Earth… January 1, 1978…midnight…

"Happy New Year!" shouted the crowd of people who were standing in the streets of Times Square in New York City; the New Year had come and everyone was celebrating with glasses filled with champagne. While everyone was celebrating, no one noticed the figure that appeared in a golden flash of light at the top of the Empire State building.

The figure turned out to be that of an African American woman with golden apparel. Her feet were bare with the exception of golden bracelets around her ankles; her face was painted with the colors of the rainbow. Finally, snow-white hair was drawn upon her head with golden ribbons; golden-cat eyes flashed as she spoke out loud, "Fates of Earth, why have you summoned me from my rest? I, Kikia the Guardian Spirit of Power Children, command you to appear!"

"Why are you filled with anger?" asked one of the Fates as all three crones appeared before the golden spirit. Before Kikia could answer, the three Fates announced in one voice, "You should be filled with joy, for during this year the powers that be have decreed that the first warriors of light are to be born unto this world. No more shall a birth of a child of Power be few and far between. A boom shall come to give new life to a race almost extinct."

Kikia was silent for a moment, and then she asked in soft voice of amazement, "Power Rangers shall be born here on this planet? A Green Lantern lives and protects this small world. If they are born here…"

Once again the Fates interrupted the Guardian Spirit as they replied, "Power Rangers shall be born here. It is decreed from the most high. And with their birth, so shall begin the Guardians of Oa death." With this last statement, the Fates disappeared into the unknown. Kikia was once again silent as a beaming smile came upon her face, and then with a shout of joy she too disappeared into the air.

Some time later, on the Planet of Oa, the Guardians were preparing to start another day of managing the Green Lantern Corps when suddenly a golden flash of light appeared in their mist. Garth the leader of the Guardian shouted in surprise, "Kikia! Why have come before us?"

Kikia looked upon him and the other Guardians in distaste as she announced, "Hear my warning, Cursed Ones! The time is at hand for your final judgment! The Children of Power will soon be born; as they grow you will have to decide which of you shall be the only one to live! This lone one must choose the last Green Lantern to stop the darkest Lantern of them all! Choose wisely for if you choose wrong, time itself shall punish you even beyond the realm of death!" Then with this final warning, the spirit disappeared from their presence.

The Guardians looked upon each other in sadness and worry. Finally one of them asked Garth, "I thought you said if Sinestro was contained that the curse would never come to pass?"

"Apparently I was wrong, with the coming of the warriors of ancient lore we must quickly find who among our Lanterns could bring about our destruction," replied Garth with worry. As the Guardians discussed their curse and the search that they must do; no one noticed the young Green Lantern who went by the name of Hal Jordan, listening in on their conversation.

January 30, 1978…Metropolis General Hospital…10:45 am…

From the day we arrive on this planet,
And blinking, step into the sun,
There is more to see than can ever be seen,
More to do than can ever be done.

"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Scott! It's a boy!" shouted the doctor as he handed the new baby to his mother.

"Oh, John! He looks just like your father!" cried out Laura Scott with tears in her eyes as she looked at her child.

"Honey, you did great!" choked out the new father as he kissed his wife's forehead with joy.

"Mr. and Mrs. Scott, I have to take him now to be checked up. What's is your son's name?" asked a cheerful nurse with cat-like eyes.

"Jason, Jason Lee Scott!" shouted the baby's father with pride.

"Yes, Jason Lee Scott," acknowledged the new mother as she handed her son to the waiting nurse. When the nurse held the baby in her arms, time seemed to stop, suddenly the nurse changed to her true form, Kikia.

Standing among the frozen people in the delivery room, she looked down at the crying baby in her arms, "Hush, little one. They will be all right. But first you must be baptized in the Light," she told the child as she laid him down inside the waiting cradle next to her. "Hmm, I'll need a few witnesses," she muttered as she disappeared with the cradle.

There is far too much to take in here,
More to find than can ever be found.
But the sun rolling high,
Through the sapphire sky,
Keeps great and small on the endless round.

Superman cursed silently as Mr. Mytzpliz made the dinosaur bones come to life in the Natural History Museum of Metropolis. 'What can happen next?' he questioned himself silently.

Suddenly, a red dragon and tyrannosaurs rex appeared before them, "Hey! What's this? I didn't order a red dinosaur or dragon!" yelled Mr. Mytzpliz as he watched the two red animals smashed the living bones into jigsaw pieces.

Superman looked at him in astonishment, "You didn't do this?" he asked.

"No, and I didn't cause those running or screaming people to freeze either," he replied as he scratched his bald head in wonderment.

"I did. Please excuse my companions, but they don't like seeing their dead become part of your tricks, Mr. Mytzpliz," stated a voice as Kikia appeared before them with a baby's cradle beside her.

"Kikia!" shouted Mytzpliz as he turned a pale white.

Superman looked at him with curiosity, "You know her?" he questioned.

"Yes…she's a Guardian Spirit," he stammered with fear.

"So, nice of you to remember me. However, I need to get started and you two have been elected," she stated as the dragon and dinosaur stood on either side of the cradle.

"Witnesses?" questioned Mr. Mytzpliz with fear as Superman looked on with curiosity.

"Yes, both of you are about to witness an event that hasn't happened in a long time," Kikia replied as she made a strange bowl of golden liquid, "Now, to begin… Upon this day, upon this hour is born a child of the power," she chanted as she dipped a finger into the liquid and drew a cross within a circle on young Jason's forehead.

"Child of the power?" muttered Superman in amazement as he looked at the scene.

Mr. Mytzpliz was too shocked to speak, 'No…it can't be!'he thought silently to himself.

"Jason Lee Scott," she whispered the name in the baby's ear, "Who will this child's three soul guardians be?" Kikia continued and asked in a loud voice.

"I, the Spirit of the Tyrannous Rex will be. The strength and instincts of my kind will be his to command!" announced the red T-Rex as he brushed a claw on the baby's head.

"But, he will need skill and fire of a warrior, this I will grant him. I, the Dragon of Fire shall too be this child's soul guardian," softly spoke the Red Dragon as he brush his fiery tongue on Jason's head.

"But, what of the third?" she asked with curiosity, Red lightening suddenly flashed in the sky in reply to the spirit's question. "I see; the third shall remain hidden until the child is fully grown in the Power. Hear ye all! These two who have witnessed this baptism have something to grant the child," Kikia announced as she particularly glared at Mr. Mytzpliz, daring him to say something awful.

Superman looked at her in confusion, "I have nothing to give," he told her.

"Just wish for something for the child and it shall be granted by the most high, Mr. Kent," assured the Red Dragon nobly.

"Umm…let me think on that for a moment," he told the trio.

"Very well, Mytzpliz, this had better be not like the last time you granted a wish!" shouted the T-Rex as he narrowed his eyes at the short, dimensional imp.

"Gulp, uhh…may the baby know when to have fun," he stated nervously.

The three guardians looked at him for a moment, finally Kikia announced, "Granted, the child shall know when to play."

The T-Rex snorted in disgust, "For once you've done something right, imp!" he admitted.

Superman spoke quickly to the group, "But the child needs to know when to be serious."

"Is that your wish?" questioned the Dragon.

"Yes. However, may I ask what is so special about this baby?" he asked.

"Granted, this little one shall know when to be serious as well. As for your question Mr. Kent, upon this day, upon this hour is born a child of the Power! Extinct no more, born into the ancient power of the dinosaur!" Kikia shouted with joy as she and the other two spirits disappeared with the baby.

As people unfroze before them, Superman looked at the dimensional mischief -maker with curiosity and asked, "What was that about?"

Mr. Mytzpliz looked at him with a pale face, "Supes, ya don't want to know! I don't even want to know! Now, if you'll excuse me, I've to go back to the fifth-dimension and warn everyone there about who is making a come back to the galaxies! I'll see ya later, Supes!" he yelled as he disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Superman blinked in confusion, "Maybe, he's right. I don't want to know," he muttered out loud as he flew off.

It's the circle of life and it moves us all,
Through despair and hope,
Through faith and love,

Later that night, in the nursery room at Metropolis General Hospital, an invisible Kikia looked down at the young baby, 'The first! You are the first in a new circle, young Jason,' she thought to herself and then she quietly spoke her wish for him, "May you understand and find your place within the great Circle of Life." She smiled with pleasure as she sensed her wish was granted, "Go to sleep, young Jason. Perhaps, we shall meet again someday," she whispered to him as she kissed his forehead. Then with a wave of her hand, Kikia disappeared into the night.

Till we find our place,
On the path unwinding,
In the circle, the circle of life!

The End
