The New Power Ranger

Location: Angel Grove High School.

"You and Joseph Kannos, ya right, he's awfull, personally, I would not be seen DEAD with him" Anne laughed.

"Plus, I heard that he's going out with Rachel from Mrs Tarses class" Said Lucy.

"No he's not, he says that they are just good friends"

"Sure, go ahead and ask him to the winter dance and watch him turn you down cold"

She was going to ask him no matter what anyone else said or thought.

Location: Youth Center.

The next day she put on a real pretty dress and fixed her hair. Ashley thought that she looked pretty good. She decided that she would ask him after school at the Youth Center.

School seemed to drag.  Every minutes seemed like twenty. Finally it was over.

She arrived at the Youth Center and went into the kitchen to find Ernie.

"Ernie" she called out.

"Ashley there you are, wow you look very nice today."

"Thank you, I'm going to ask Joseph to the dance, do you think that he will go with me" she asked

"With such a pretty girl he'd be a fool not to."

"You are so nice to me" She turned and walked out of the kitchen and strode confidently over to the table where Joseph and Rachel were sitting.

"Hi Ashley!" Said Joseph with a smile.

"Hi Joseph. I have a question for you."

"All right shoot."

"Would you escort me to the dance tonight".

"He's going with me, he can't" Said Rachel.

Her eyes pounded into Ashley's.

"Oh" Ashley said meekly "I'm sorry, I didn't know, I'd better go" Ashley ran out of the Youth Center. She didn't want Joseph to see her cry.

"Why in the hell did you say that Rachel, we are not going to the dance together" Joseph said.

"Why would you take her to the dance, she is such a looser, d'you want to damage your reputation by going out with a misfit" Rachel replied.

Joseph was ANGRY.

"You are such a bitch, she is a beautiful young lady, she has a cool personality and I really shouldn't be defending her to you, you are such a.. ah ROTT IN HELL" Joseph turning red slams his chair into the table and walks away.

Location: Yoiuth Center.

Later that afternoon, about an hour before the party, Ashley arrives to help Ernie with the last of the decorations and preparing the food.

"So is he taking you to the party".

"No, I guess Anne was right, so I don't need the night off, I'll stay in the kitchen and help with the food, tomorrow is Christmas and I have absolutely no one to spend it with romantically" she said.

Ernie turned to face her and told her "I want you to put on that pretty dress that you've been telling me about all week and I want you to do your hair up the way you've been telling me and I want to see you here for the party".

"Why, so I can stand out there and wait for no one to ask me to dance, I'll wear the dress so you can see it but other than that there is no other reason for me to wear it"

"Don't put yourself down" She looked down at her feet.

At the party all of the rangers entered the room.

Cassie and Carlos went immediately to the dance floor and started to dance.

TJ had come with brunet and they started to dance.

Justin walked in on his own and went to the bar to get a drink

"Joseph lets dance" Rachel asked but he replied "No Rachel, I'm going to wait for Ashley and I'm going to spend this evening with her"

Rachel's reply was "Fine be that way, I'm sure there are a lot of nice men who would die to dance with me"

 Joseph yawned and replied "Fine go and find these so called men".

Ashley arrived late to the Youth Center and ran straight to the kitchen.

"Sorry I'm late Ernie"

"That's all right Ashley, now let me see that dress" She takes off her coat and reveals a red velvety looking dress with green trim around the bottom. She had curled her hair and pulled it up away from her face. She looked beautiful.

"You look great Ashley" Ernie told her.

"Thanks" She looked depressed.

"Why does such a pretty girl look so depressed" Ernie asked.

"Because" she replied.

"Go on and join the party" Ernie told her

"No I think that I'll stay right here where it is safe"

"Suit yourself" Ernie left the kitchen.

He saw Joseph standing at the entrance to the Youth Center and noticed that he was looking for someone.

Ernie went over to the refreshment table and put down the drinks that he was carrying and then went over to Joseph.

"Who are you looking for Joseph" he asked.

"I'm looking for Ashley, Ashley Hammond, have you seen her" Joseph asked.

"Yes I have, she is in the kitchen helping me out with the refreshments"

Ernie replied.

"Can I go back there and talk to her".

"Of course".

"Thanks".

Location: Youth Center Kitchen.

Joseph walks to the kitchen and he sees her back. The form fitting red velvet dress fit her well and she could carry it off.

"Hello" The sudden noise startled her.

"Joseph" She said amazed "What are you doing here".

"I was wondering if you would be my date for the dance this evening" he asked her.

"Yes I would like that" He reached into his pocket and pulled out a nicely wrapped box.

"Merry Christmas" He gives her the box and she opens it.

Her eyes light up. It was a necklace with a crystal charm on it.

"It's beautiful, thank you".

"Beautiful things for beautiful girls" She blushed.

Joseph took the necklaces out of her hands and stood behind her and clasped it in the back and pulled her long curls out from under the chain "Now come on I want to show you off to my friends" he took her outstretched hand.

His hand was almost twice the size of her little hand, but they seemed to fit together like they were made for each other.

Location: Dance Floor.

They made their way onto the dance floor and they started to dance. Ashley was enjoying herself. From the look on Joseph's face he was having a great time also.

His friends all came over and complimented her dress and TJ even asked "Hey Joseph, mind if I cut in and dance with your ANGEL….".

Ashley blushed and said "Thanks…." .

Joseph smiled and told TJ "Go find your own angel, this one is MINE…..".

TJ just smiled and continued dancing with his date.

Ashley hadn't felt this loved in years.  She hoped that the night would never end.

"How about we go for a midnight stroll by the lake?"

"I'd love to" The two of them were getting ready to leave the Youth Center when Ernie pulled Joseph aside.

"Take care of her or you'll have to deal with me" Ernie.

"Understood sir." Joseph rejoined Ashley.

"What did he say"

"Oh nothing, come on let's go." Joseph and Ashley left the room.

Location: Outside Youth Center.

The night was beautiful. The moon was centered in the sky, and the light played off the water and the air was cool. Joseph's face was framed by the light and he almost looked like an angel.

"Thanks for the mercy date, I've had a great time"

"This is not a mercy date, I really like you Ashley"

"Seriously".

"I wouldn't date someone I didn't like" Joseph smiled.

He bent to accommodate her height and kissed her. Her mind raced. This was incredible. Her first date and her first kiss. He pulled away and it took her a moment to catch her breath and to put her emotions back into perspective.

"All right so I like you a lot" Ashley smiled "How about I take you home".

"That would be nice" Ashley shivered in the cold.

In the hustle of getting out of the Youth Center she had forgotten her coat.

"Are you cold".

"A little" Joseph took off his coat and wrapped it around her shoulders.

The coat was warm from his body.

They headed back to Joseph's car and went to take Ashley home.

Location: Corner Of 5th and Main.

"Where do you live"

"Not far from here"

"What street"

"Four blocks from the high school"

"No problem, so what are you doing tomorrow night?"

"Nothing".

"Why don't you come over to my house for dinner"

"I'd love that"

"Great I'll pick you up around 6:30 all right"

"That sounds good" She closed the door and watched as Joseph drove away in his sleek white car.

Location: Ashley's Bedroom.

Ashley got into bed and was almost snuggled in when she noticed that her hair was caught around something. She felt back there and felt the necklace that Joseph had given her and she smiled. She pulled the charm close to her heart and went to sleep.

Location: Joseph's House.

"Mom! I'm home" Joseph rushed into the kitchen and found his mother.

"Why are you so happy"

"I just had the most wonderful date that I have ever had"

"Joseph, do I want to know what it is that you've done"

"Mom! No, Ashley and I-"

"Not Rachel"

"No, any way Ashley she is so beautiful, smart and she has a wonderful personality, just talking to her makes me smile. Her eyes just play like to emerald balls, we went to the beach and strolled in the moonlight. Oh god mom, I think I love her" .

Joseph's mother smiled.

"I'm glad that you have found someone that you feel this way about, I just hope it lasts".

"Oh it will. I invited her over for dinner tomorrow night"

"Well you must like her, you're bringing her over awfully quickly, you go on up to bed. I'll see you in the morning"

"I don't think that I'll be able to sleep" He kissed his mother and ran up stairs.

Location: Ashley's House.

Time: The Next Evening.

Ashley was getting ready at 6:00.

She looked at herself in the mirror, and she frowned. The dress looked so much better in the box. She seemed to take all of the beauty out of the dress. But it was all that she had so she would live with it. She heard the car pull up. She ran down the stairs and went outside. Joseph got out of the car and opened the car door for her. She smiled. He made her feel like a queen. He got into the car and started to pull away.

"You look very nice this evening."

"Thank you." She blushed.

"My family is looking forward to meeting you."

"I hope they aren't disappointed with me."

"Oh no way that they will".

Location: Joseph's House

About five minutes later they pulled into Joseph's driveway.

One person greeted her at the door.

His father.

"Dad, this is Ashley"

"A pleasure to meet you Mrs. Kannos" Ashley stuck out her hand and Mr. Kannos shook it.

They said their pleasantries and they sat down to dinner. Joseph sat right next to Ashley.

Then Joseph's father came in. This was the first time that Ashley had seen Joseph's father. He looked like an older version of Joseph. His fathers features was hard looking though. But she saw happiness in his eyes.

"You must be Ashley".

"Yes sir, a pleasure to meet you".

"Yes, it is a pleasure to meet you as well" He had sat down they passed the food around and then began to eat.

"So Ashley, where did you and Joseph meet" Joseph's dad asked.

"At the winter dance yesterday".

"That's unusual, because Joseph normally can't stand daces or disco's" Mr. Kannos said.

"I like Ashley dad".

"So, what do you think of the Power Rangers then Ashley" Mr Kannos asked.

Joseph looked at Ashley who then replied

"They are great, if it wern't for them, we'd have been conquered by evil space aliens by now".

The evening went well and around ten Joseph took Ashley home.

Location: Ashley's Home.

"Thanks so much for everything to tonight."

"Well I had a great time with you." Joseph put his hands on her hips and leaned in and kissed her on the lips. His hands moved farther and farther up her sides, and he kissed deeper and deeper.

Until a voice from inside Ashley's house screamed for them to stop.

"I'll see you tomorrow Ashley, Youth Center noon"

"I'll be there".

Location: Joseph's Home.

Joseph got home and his mother was waiting for him.

She wiped his lips.

And shook her head.

Joseph smiled and blushed.

"So what do you think of her dad".

"She is very sweet".

"I think so".

"Great, I was so afraid that you wouldn't like her, I'm going to go to bed".

"Good night".

Location: Angel Grove High School.

Time: The next Day.

"How about we make our relationship a little more permanent" Joseph said to Ashley.

"What do you mean" Ashley attempted to move a stray lock of brown hair out of her face that the wind had so carelessly blown into her face.

Joseph removed his class ring from his finger and picked up her delicate hand and slid it on.

"I want to go steady" Ashley looked at the ring on her finger the sun glistened off of the blue stone.

"I'd love to" They leaned in and they kissed.

"Here, I think that since you are giving up your class ring to me that I should give up something that is special to me" She unclasps an old bracelet with a charm that the writing was almost worn off because of wear.

"What is this" Joseph asks.

"This bracelet was given to me by my best friend at my last school" then a melodic beep interupts.

"Joseph, I have to go"

"OK, see you later"

He nodded his head.

Ashley rushed over to a nearby tree and hi behind it and touched his communicator "What is it Alpha"

"We need you in the Power Chamber"

"Be right there" She pressed a button on her communicator.

Location: Power Chamber.

"What's up Alpha" Alpha explained to her "The other Rangers are at the park, they need your help with a monster that apeared a few moinutes ago…..".

Ashley nodded and took out her Turbo Key, she did the arm movement that activated her morpher, she then yelled "SHIFT INTO TURBO".

Ashley: Dune Star Turbo Power.

Location: Angel Grove Park.

Joseph had got a free period so he decided to take a walk in the park.

All he could think about was Ashley. His girlfriend. He had dated a few girls before Ashley, but none of them gave him that warm, fuzzy feeling he had in the pit of his stomach. He loved her and that was all that mattered.

His thoughts were interupted when he heard what sounded like a battle, he turned around and looked directly at a monster.

"Oj, just what I need, a distraction….." the monster then yelled "Hey, Power Brats, watch this….." the monster shot Joseph with an energy beam, sending him flying through the air and slamming into a tree. The Yellow Turbo Ranger yelled out "NOOOO……"

The monster laughed and said "You can either come after me, or save the human, tata kiddies" the monster then turned and teleported away.Yellow Trubo Ranger ran to Joseph and removed her helmet.

"Please…. Please be all right….." she cried, she chedkec for a pulse, there was none. 

She activated her communicator and said "Alpha, a civilian has been hurt, we need to bring hm to the Power Chamber"

Alpha's reply came quickly "Ok, prepare for teleportation".

Location: Powe Chamber.

Alpha passed the medical scanner over Joseph's body and said "He'll live".Dimitria looked down at the unconsious form of Joseph and asked "Alpha, can you wake him"

Alpha replied with "I don't see why not…" The little droid held the scanner over Joseph, it emmited a yellow beam..

"Where the HELL am I" Joseph asked as he sat up.

"You are in the Power Chamber, home of the Power Rangers" Alpha says.

"Hi Joseph, I'm Alpha"

"Hello nice to meet you, what am I doing in the.. the.."

"Power Chamber" Alpha prompts.

"Thanks, what is a Power Chamber" Joseph asks.

"This is the place where Dimitria gives us our orders and Alpha helps build the Zords and the Power Rangers retreat to regroup and plan how to defeat the monsters" Ashley says

"So you are.." Joseph begins to ask

"I'm a Power Ranger" Ashley says.

"So, how did I end up here, the last thing I remember is being shot by a monster" he asks.

Ashley tells him "We saw you getting shot and brought you here".

"Joseph, I sense within you, great power" Dimitria says "With that power, will you accept the power of the Lion Ranger"

"Me…. a Ranger… but how…" Joseph asks, barley able to belive what he just heard

"You have great, yet unused mental abilities, I could feed it into the Power Chambers center control systems and that would set off a chain reaction that would make increased power in which I would have to expel somewhere, so I could feed it into the Lion Ranger morpher".

"What's this Lion Ranger Morpher, and how come we've never heard of it….." Justin asked, to which Dimitria replied "The Lion Ranger powers have gone unused for centuries, due to the fact that no human has had the mental ability to use them….."

Joseph asked "If no human has the ability to use them, then how can I use them….."

Dimitria answered his question with "You are not human, our scans reveal that you are from the planet Arus…..".

An alien.

Joseph was an alien.

The attack alarm blared out, the viewing globe activated and TJ said "Piranatrons are in the park"

"I'll go" Joseph says, but Dimitria tells him "No Joseph, you must remain here, without the protection of the power, you might get seriusly hurt".

Location: Angel Grove Park.

The Piranatrons surrounded them. They fought valiantly but Divatox had apparently decided to use up as many Piranatrons as she could. There were almost one hundred Piranatrons in the park battling them.

"Man, this is rough!" TJ shouted.

"I know" Justin yelled as he slammed a Piranatron down.

"There's too many" Ashley shouted as he flipped by "We need help".

Almost as if on cue, there was a sudden white flash of light. All of the Rangers, and even the Piranatrons paused in battle. Standing on a grassy knoll was a Ranger. The Lion Ranger.

The Lion Ranger's costume was blue, with exception to his boots and gloves, they were white.

His gauntletts were shaped like Lion heads, which left his gloved hands exposed from the wrist down.

His helmet was blue, and the marking were almost the same as the Lion heads on his wrists, except that the eyes on the helmet glowed. Covering his chest was armor similar to the original Green Ranger, but in the center was a Lion's head.

Though it wasn't always easy to tell by size, the Ranger appeared to be male… the fact that the uniform had no skirt led Justin to make one instant deduction.

"Hey man" he called to the stiff blue figure "You wanna help"

The Lion Ranger seemed to look across the battlefield as if he'd never seen the place before.

Slowly, he nodded to Justin.

The Piranatrons seemed to take that as an order to resume and in seconds, fists were flying again. With the added help, the Piranatrons were quickly defeated.

Location: Power Chamber

The Rangers teleported back to the Power Chamber after their battle.

"Well done Lion Ranger" Dimitria said "Your first battle was sucsessfull".

Lion Ranger de-morphed and Joseph said "Wow, what a rush".

"So my boyfriend is the Lion Ranger" Ashley says.

"Yeah, it's SOOO cool " Joseph says.

"You look SO sexy in your armor" Ashley tells her boyfriend.

"And you're armor is tight, in all the right places" Joseph replies.

Their banter is cut short when the alarms once again blare out. But this time, on the Viewing Globe, Blastoid has grown to giant size.

"I'll go handle this creep, I have a score to settle after he SHOT me"

Joseph said, Dimitria informed him "Joseph, your LionZord will come to your aid……".

Location: Angel Grove.

Lion Ranger materialised atop the Angel Grove Bank.

He saw Blastoid striing towards the suspension bridgem that was packed with cars.

"Ok ugly, it's time for some PAYBACK….." Joseph said.

He raised his fist into the air and called out "Lion Zord, hear my roar, Lion Ranger summons you"

Location: Angel Grove Desert.

The ground began to shake. A loud metalic roar peirced the quiet air. Something was awake. The desert began to crack. The rumbling got louder and more intense. Suddenly, a giant, blue, robotic claw burst through the desert sand. The Lion Zord burst out of the desert. It roared as it ran to it's master's call.

Location: Angel Grove.

The Lion Zord let out a defening roar that shook the ground and caused Blastoid to fall to the ground.

Lion Ranger teleported to the cockpit of his Zord and said "Ok, LionZord, CHARGE….." the Lion Zord scrapped it's foot on the ground, like a bull,

waiting to charge, it lowered it's head and charged at the monster, it slammed into him, once againg knocking Blastoid to the ground.

"Ok, time to finish this" Joseph said "TAIL BLASTER, IGNITE…..".

The Lion skidded to a halt, it cracked it's tail on the ground then aimed it at Blastoid, a beam of energy shot out and slammed into the monster, the

energy wrapped around Blastoid until he was covcered. He screamed in pain as the energy tightened around him. He then exploded in a ball of energy and flame.

Location: Juice Bar.

Ashley and Joseph sit at a quiet table and watch the people come in and out of the Juice Bar.

"You did good today, for your first battle as a Power Ranger" Ashley says,

Joseph replies with "Yeah, a few more battles and I'll be ready to take over as leader".

Ashley laughed, Joseph held her hand gently and said "I love you Ashley"

Ashley gripped his hand and replied "And I love you to Joseph".

They leant closer and kissed passionatly.
