Prelude
Idea.
I had and Idea that was plain and simple
I told someone I thought was true
But when I told them my Idea I wished I

For eternal hate had taken hold.
I knew it as I know today you can't
change the ideas of old.
For once in society they twist and

Rocky DeSantos walked slowly out of Angel Grove High School. He did not want to look back to the sea of sympathetic faces. She was gone that's all that really mattered to him. She was the only one who understood why he had betrayed the Power Rangers. As he headed towards Angel Grove Park he remembered how they had first met. Just before he started to cry he walked past the building in which she had met her demise.
Part One
It was Christmas and as usual the owner of the Angel Grove Youth Centre, Tom Stone was throwing a major Christmas party. Tommy Oliver and Kimberly Hart, his girlfriend, sat at their usual table in deep conversation when one of Tommy's best friends Adam Park came rushing in. Close behind Adam, shaking the snow out of his coat, was Adam's best friend, Rocky DeSantos.
"Hey guys" Tommy greeted them in his usual fashion. "What's up?"
Rocky smiled at Tommy, "Adam and I just saw the most amazing thing. There's a whole lot of big trucks and a big black car heading up to the old Manor."
Rocky paused for a breath and Adam took over the story. "It's not just a black car guys it's a Limousine. Whoever is going up to the manor is loaded."
Kim smiled "What a wonderful way to put it."
Rocky looked impatiently at his friends "Lets go and see who it is and welcome them to Angel Grove."
Tommy and Kim looked at Adam and then at Rocky. Tommy and Kimberly both shrugged stood up and raced after Rocky and Adam who has run out into the cold December day enthusiastically.
As they neared the manor Rocky noticed that they were not the only people who wanted to get a good look at the new comers.
"Hey Billy, Hey Aisha what are you doing here?" Cried out Kim.
Billy Cranston was the first to respond, "Hey Kim! Aisha and I were curious so we came up to get a better look."
At that moment Bulk and Skull, the town idiots according to Rocky, came wandering up towards to group. "Get out of the way dweebs. We're going to welcome these rich people." Bulk and Skull pushed past Tommy and Kim, walked up to the biggest and most well dressed man they could find and tried to act impressively and to put on a show.
"Hi there my name is Bulk and this is Skull and we would like to be the first to officially welcome you to Angel Grove." Started Bulk "if you need anything at all don't hesitate to ask because me and my partner will do it all for a price."
The heavy-set man started laughing and patted Bulk on the back. "I love your sales pitch but if you want work you'll have to speak to Miss Jenkinson. She's the owner of this place now."
As if on cue the main doors of the manor flew open and two figures emerged from the inside. The first was an older lady who walked with poise and grace, the second was a young girl around 16 who skipped down the steps of the manor and smiled as Bulk and Skull walked towards her.
"Hey there" She greeted them.
"Get lost kid." Said Skull.
The older lady looked offended and grabbed Skull by the ear, "Young man," she scolded "you will now apologise to Miss Jenkinson and then you will leave the property or I will have you removed by the police." The older lady released Skulls ear and turned on her heels heading back into the manor.
The younger girl walked towards Skull and as he straightened up his jacket she ignored him and headed over to Tommy and the group. "Hey there I'm Sapphire Jenkinson how are you?"
Rocky took the liberty of introducing the group. "Hi I'm Rocky DeSantos and this is Tommy Olive, Kimberly Hart, Aisha Campbell, Billy Cranston and Adam Park."
"It's a pleasure to meet you all. Tell me, are those two always like that?" she said indicating to Bulk and Skull who had engaged in a conversation with one of the chauffers.
Aisha nodded "they can get worse though believe me."
Sapphire chuckled "I can believe it. But where are my manners would you like to come inside and join me for a warm drink after all it is getting rather chilly out here."
She flashed a killer smile at Rocky and his heart melted at the same time Tommy accepted her invitation for the group and they headed up the steps of the manor with both Rocky and Sapphire thinking the same thing. "I hope you're single"
Far away from Angel Grove a small fishing trawler pulled up another net that was empty, well nearly empty.
One of the older fisherman on the boat came up from the fish-hold with a small jar "Hey fellas, come and check this out!"
His fellow fishermen came trooping over to see what the fuss was about. "Well Al? What is it?"
The old fisherman looked sheepishly at his friends and smiled.
"A genie in a glass jar!" The men looked at the jar closer it was full of small swirls of smoke. "Well don't just stand there holding the damn thing Al. Open it"
Even before Al had entirely unscrewed the lid he had wished that they'd never found it. For as the black and thick smoke poured out of the jar Al knew that he and his friends would never again see the light of day together again.
It happened just as Rocky and the gang were leaving. Sapphire had, had a wonderful time talking to them and she had accumulated enough knowledge about Rocky to realise that he was quite available. Tommy had hinted that there was a dance at a Youth Center that they all seemed very fond of. Kim had promised to show her aroud the town and Sapphire had accepted. As she waved goodbye to them. Then it hit her hard, the same gut feeling that she had gotten when he first...
She dismissed the feeling calmingherself "'It can't be him!' she thought, "'I trapped him in that jar besides no matter what happened to the jar it couldn't be on Earth. Could it?' As she shut the door Sapphire had no idea that the monster that she dreaded most was watching her and taking full note of what she was doing. "'In time,' it thought, "'in time I will hunt you down and you will finally be mine.' The thing disolved in a cloud of thick, black smoke.
Part 2
As promised Kim started showing Sapphire the sites of Angel Grove early the next morning. After seeing the shopping Mall the high school and a half a dozen other interesting places Kim and Sapphire headed towards the Youth Centre for lunch. As they walked along they fell into talking about anything that came to mind. Sapphire's family was one of the topic highlights.
"So Sapphire how many people are in your family?" asked Kim pleasantly.
"Well there's my mother she's kinda annoying when you try and go your own way. My dad well he's more lenient towards us kids. There's my older brother Mio, he and Daisy, his twin, they're both in the Air Force, and it's a career my mother greatly detests. Multiple births run in the family, my other sisters and me were all born about 10 minutes apart."
Kim looked astonished at the amount of information Sapphire had just freely told someone who was nearly a complete stranger to her. "Your sisters?" Kim decided to see how far Sapphires trust would go.
"There's three of us. All identical Emerald she the oldest of us, then Ruby and then me I'm the youngest in the family."
Kim nodded understandingly at Sapphires tone. To her Sapphire sounded pained as the youngest.
Lord Zedd glowed redder than usual. He had just been offered a deal from, as he saw it the most evil monster that had ever existed. "So you want the girl?"
The lord of darkness, Smokey, sat back in Zedd's throne "Yes she is the future Dragon Lord I must train her for evil before she turns seventeen. If Stellar of Arcania gets to her first then my plan is ruined." Zedd could see Smokey was getting upset so he quickly excused himself from the throne room.
"GOLDAR!"
"Hey guys." The loud call from Rocky startled both Kim and Sapphire.
"Hey Rocky" They answered simultaneously before giggling helplessly at each other.
"Where have you two been? Tommy and the rest of us have been waiting for simply hours."
Kim understood what Rocky meant immediately. Rocky felt like it had been hours because he wanted to eat. "Well kind sir, if you wish for our presence to be felt at your luncheon then who are we to deny your most chivalrous request?" quoted Sapphire in a mock English accent. Rocky started laughing.
"What, Sir, Rocky means is that's he's hungry. You'll get used to his appetite we all did!" Kim playfully punched Rocky in the arm as Sapphire watched in greatest interest "Rocky you're always hungry. Come on Sapphire if Rocky gets any hungrier he'll eat us."
Sapphire followed after Kim and Rocky as they ran off in the general direction of the youth centre. She started to soak in the sights, the sounds and smells as a blinding flash of light swept in behind her. She turned briskly and was met with a horrifying sight.
Kim and Rocky got to the Youth centre together Tommy and the others were waiting on the steps.
" Hey Guys?" asked Tommy " where's Sapphire?"
Kim and Rocky looked at each other "She was right behind us." Rocky turned white, "You guys don't think that..." As Rocky thought aloud the familiar beeping caught their attention. "Yes Zordon?"
A dozen putty patrollers were menacingly moving towards Sapphire standing behind them was something that looked like a bird crossed with a wolf, it bowed to her and addressed her in a tone that was far from friendly. "Miss Jenkinson my master Lord Zedd wishes and audience with." Sapphire had started moving backwards
"I don't think so Goldar." The voice had come from behind Sapphire she turned around in case there were more putty things behind her but instead there were six guys all alike in their costumes.
"Putties attack" with a battle cry from Goldar the putties moved towards Sapphire while at the same time, the six strangely clad fighters moved in towards the impending attack. As the Rangers and the Putties faced off, Sapphire had started moving back. Slowly at first, truthfully in her heart she knew it was the start of something bigger. She also knew that in the end it would be the rangers who would prove to be the greatest friends, although at that point in time all she knew was that they were there to help her and to stop who ever "'Goldar' was from capturing her. Sapphire's train of thought was broken when three of the Putties broke off from the main pack and started towards her. As one grabbed her arms she jumped up and kicked the other two in the "'Z' spot on their armoured bodies. The putty who had hold of her arms pinned her to the ground but was pulled up by the red ranger who quickly disposed of it. Then as quickly as they had appeared all of the putties and Goldar teleported out.
The rangers circled around Sapphire all asking questions. However the stress of being attacked and the feeling she had when the putty pinned her was all too much for her and Sapphire passed out.
Goldar knew that Lord Zedd and Smokey would be more than slightly angry when he got back to the Moon Base so instead of returning with the putties Goldar had gone to the Dark Dimension in order to vent some anger on whatever he could find.
He knew he has failed and that it would cost both him and Lord Zedd their lives unless he could remedy his folly. Although Goldar knew he wasn't the brightest of monsters. He did have good ideas. Occasionally, but normally when he relayed them to Lord Zedd, they were twisted and distorted from whatever Goldar's Idea had been. This was so that Goldar had no claim to it, unless, that was, the plan failed and then it was all Goldar's fault. Why did Zedd always blame him? It wasn't his magic; he wasn't in charge, as Goldar punched another hole in the wall of the Dark Dimension he roared in anger and distress. Why couldn't it be someone else's fault? Why was it always him? As Goldar worked himself into a really deep psychological depressive state he was unaware that his master was watching him. As he started to calm down Goldar found himself making a big impression on one of the other walls. As Zedd lowered his staff he only slightly regretted blasting Goldar. He knew how hard the idiot tried to please him but Goldar never really got it. It being the fact that if Goldar failed then Smokey would destroy them all.
When she came to Sapphire had no idea where she was. There were people talking to her but she couldn't make out what was being said. She slowly sat up as her head began to clear and groaned as a shot of pain run up her spine. Her eyes refocussed and she realised she was in Angel Grove park. The people who had been talking were Rocky and Kim who had obviously come back to see where she had got to and found her unconscious.
"Hey are you okay?" Rocky's voice broke through her thoughts.
She looked up into his brown eyes and blinked "Yeah I'm okay!"
Kim looked concerned "What happened?"
Sapphire shrugged, shook her head and leant against Rocky's shoulder as her vision clouded again. "I was attacked by this weird group of clay-things and there was a monster that looked like a chicken crossed with a wolf. He said something about some guy called Lord Zedd and him wanting to see me or something..."
Rocky put his arm around Sapphire and helped her up off the ground. "Look don't worry. Lord Zedd is always trying to abduct civilians so that he can hold them for ransom to the Power Rangers. If you want though I'll keep and extra eye on you." Rocky smiled at Sapphire "Oh so you'd be my personal body guard/super person huh Rocky?"
He blushed. "Well babe if that's what you want..." Rocky suddenly found himself on the ground.
"Look Rocky it's lovely of you to ask but I can take care of myself."
Rocky, who was still slightly surprise by being pinned by a girl that was half his size, stood up, dusted himself off and threw a punch at Sapphire. She neatly blocked it and Rocky found himself on the ground again with his arm being twisted behind his back.
"Okay Sapphire you win!" He felt her grip loosen on his arm and she helped him up
"Rule number one, Never underestimate your opponent no matter how disadvantaged they seem to be!" Quoted Sapphire.
Rocky, who was regarding Sapphire in an entirely different light didn't hear what she said.
However he snapped out of his thoughts when Kim said "Lets get moving the others are still at the Youth Centre and if we hurry Sapphire you can beat Rocky up some more okay?"
Sapphire nodded. As they headed off Sapphire noticed two things, one Rocky was talking to her a lot more than he previously had and two they were staying a lot closer to her then they had been before. "'I wonder if they're protecting me?' She thought.
Goldar finally had the guts to go back to the moon base. He crawled in submissively on his paws and knees and cowered at Lord Zedd throne.
At this point Smokey noticed him "So the failure has returned," he thundered in a frightening voice. Goldar cowered at Smokey's feet while he went on "So you think that she's that easy to catch? You blew it you idiot now Stella of Arkania will be able to win her over."
Goldar just sat there and took it all, just like he always did, "'Blah blah blah blah," he thought, "'You and Zedd should get on well you both have to blame the innocent one.'
As Smokey continued his verbal assault Goldar realised he was working himself up into a real tantrum. He picked Goldar up from his spot on the floor and threw him across the throne room "So you can do it yourself huh? So she'll be a push over huh? Well I hope you're sorry. You've ruined everything."
Goldar was expecting Smokey to explode. Instead the opposite happened, Smokey became dangerously calm. "No wait it's not your fault," he said soothingly "you didn't know what you were up against, I'm sorry Goldar I should not have yelled at you as I did. Please come stand by my side on the balcony and we will talk about your next move." Smokey offered a hand to Goldar and pulled him from the floor. He then Lead Goldar to the balcony and as Zedd watched simply pushed him over the edge. "OOPS!"
