Cube - Part Three
By Matt

"I say we go straight for this door!" Tommy commented.

"But Tommy, what about the trap!" Kat said to their leader.

"We'll have to find a way around it. If the map says that's the room we've got to get to, that's the one we're going to!" Tommy ordered.

"Okay, so how do you suggest we get around the trap?" Rocky asked.

They all looked at the room, trying to think of some way through. "I've got an idea!" Adam commented. He held out his hand and another discus appeared. He threw it and the trap sliced it into pieces again. Adam watched carefully as the trap went through its cycle. Once again he threw a discus, watching closely.

"What are you doing?" Rocky asked.

"Okay, I'm gonna try something. Someone get ready to throw a disc exactly when I say!" Adam ordered.

Jason stood ready, the steel discus in position. "NOW!" Adam shouted. Jason threw the disc, and almost at the same time Adam ran forward. He dived ahead as fast as he could. The wires shot upwards, slicing through the discus, then started to move back down to the ground, but Adam had passed them before they even got anywhere near him.

Landing with a roll and getting back to his feet, he looked back at the others.

"Hey, nice move man!" Rocky said cheerfully.

"Yeah, you've got about two seconds to get through after the discus is thrown, otherwise the trap will catch you as it resets!" Adam said seriously. "All of you get ready to jump!"

Adam held out his hand, and once again a disc appeared. He shouted the command to run as soon as he let go of it. As the trap sprang into life once again, the Pink, Yellow and Blue Zeo Rangers all jumped through. Red and Gold both stood back for now. Tommy had seen that Jason showed no sign of moving and decided to stay back too.

"What's up bro, why didn't you jump?" Tommy asked quietly.

"I don't think I can do it!" Jason replied just as quietly.

"Whadda you mean? Of course you can!" Tommy insisted.

"I don't think so! I mean, I'm built for strength, not speed!" the Gold Ranger commented.

"Hey, don't worry about it I mean, two seconds may not sound long, but it's plenty of time. Come on, let's go!" Tommy said to him, almost ordering him.

Jason sighed, looked over at the others, then called out, "Go for it!" to Rocky who was stood ready with yet another discus. As the trap was set off one final time, the remaining two Rangers jumped through to safety.

"See! No problem!" Tommy said to his Gold ally as the others all started walking towards the next door.

Jason watched as Tommy went to join them, then reached round to his back. He ran his hand along the back of his chest shield and felt a large cut into it. "Pretty close Jase, you were lucky... this time!" he said quietly to himself before going to join the others.

"Okay, we ready?" Tanya asked, getting ready to open the next door. They all nodded, so she pushed the button and it slid aside. They all peered through, and unsurprisingly, it looked just like the other two they had seen so far. The only difference being that this new room only had a door straight ahead, on the floor, and on the ceiling.

"So what's in here?" Tommy asked the Yellow Ranger. Tanya checked the Turbo Navigator.

"Doesn't show any traps, so it's just straight on!" Tanya reported. They all walked in slowly.

""I just wanna make sure!" Tommy commented. He threw a discus. This time, it just flew across the room and smashed into the opposite wall. "Okay, it's clear!"

They all headed for the far door. Tommy was at the front with Tanya, looking at the Turbo Navigator, Jason and Kat were a short way behind them, then a little further back was Adam and Rocky.

The Green Ranger looked round, then at his life long friend. "You scared?" he asked.

"What, trapped in a giant cube, following a path pre-set by some psycho finding our way through risky and even life-threatening traps, on our way to an exit we don't even know is there! Course I'm not!" Rocky said back light-heartedly. "You?"

"Nah, no problem!" Adam said back.

The two Rangers had just reached the halfway mark and were about to walk clear of the trapdoor, when it suddenly fell open. Rocky and Adam both plummeted to the ground beneath them, landing in a pile on the ground.

"ADAM! ROCKY!" the others all shouted as they crowded round the open trapdoor.

They opened their eyes as they started to sit up, and were greeted by a very unnerving sight. Gathered around them were what appeared to be seven Power Rangers! All of them stood with weapons ready and in a fighting stance.

"Okay, now I'm scared!" Rocky commented.

The White Ranger from the new group looked up at the trapdoor and saw the others. "Surrender now or we will destroy these two!" the Ranger shouted. Although like their voices, this Ranger's was distorted too, they could definitely tell he was a male. "And come down here now!"

"Okay, okay, just don't hurt them!" Tommy stated. "Come on guys."

Rocky and Adam moved out of the way so that the other four jumped down to join them. "Who are you?" Jason asked.

"I ask the questions around here!" the White Ranger commented. "Tell me what you're doing here!"

"We're not telling you anything!" Rocky snapped, checking himself for injuries after the fall.

"Then we will destroy you!" the White Ranger replied.

"WAIT!" Tommy called out. "We'll talk. We were put here as a challenge. If we can find our way out of here, our world will be spared."

"Put here? By who?" the white Ranger asked, not sounding quite so threatening now.

"We don't know much about him, just that he goes by the name "'Enigma'." Tommy replied.

"Enigma put us in here too, and for the same reason. When did you arrive here?" he asked.

"About a half hour ago!" Tanya said. "How about you?"

"We've been here several months, we lost track eventually." The Ranger commented. "If you have just arrived, we must be near your planet. What planet would that be?"

"Earth." Rocky said. "We're the Zeo Power Rangers of Earth."

"How could you survive here for months? Does he give you food or water?" Adam asked.

"No, he doesn't. Allow me to introduce myself properly. I am Jenzar, White Ranger and leader of the Power Rangers of Trinta." He said. "And as for our ability to last this long, well I have not really met anyone from earth, but I believe our metabolisms differ slightly. How often do you require sustenance?"

"Daily." Kat replied.

"Ah, well I see how you could find our survival difficult to understand. We require it only once every thirteen cycles. I believe that is equivalent to one of your years!" Jenzar explained.

"Only eat once a year! That must keep the grocery bills down!" Rocky quipped.

"I beg your pardon." The White Ranger asked.

"Oh nothing!" Tommy commented. "Anyway, how far do you think you are from getting out of here?"

"We have been following the trail given to us since we got here, we should be less than a few days from the exit." Jenzar reported.

"Tommy, this could be our chance!" Jason commented quietly.

"Jenzar, would you allow us to see your planned route so that we can compare it to our own." Tommy requested.

"Of course." He waved his hand in the air and his blue Ranger stepped forward holding a small device. Tanya approached him and compared it to the Turbo Navigator. A few minutes later she said, "None of the markers on their route are the same as ours, but the exit appears to be in the same place. I think we could go with them!"

"Would you mind?" Tommy asked.

"Of course not! We could use all the help we can get!" the white ranger said happily.

"I don't know about that. You appear to be doing quite well on your own!" Rocky smiled.

The other Rangers all went silent. Rocky could tell he had said something wrong. Before he could ask, the Blue Trinta Ranger said, "There were twelve of us when we got here, the others have..." he stopped there, but they all got the idea.

"Tommy, I'm not sure about this. All of the markers are different on their map, they could be tricking us, leading us into a trap!" Tanya commented.

"What, so you think we should stick to our own route?" Tommy asked.

"You know, we could forget the map and just work our way to the exit without it. We know where it is, we go in a straight line, we should get there in no time." Jason suggested.

"I'm not sure about this!" Tommy said about all of it. "Give me a minute to decide."

That's it for this part. And here come the choices. Should they:

  1. Go with the Trinta Rangers following their map.
  2. Return to their own route following the map on the Turbo Navigator.
  3. Forget using a map and just search for the exit without it.

There ya go. I look forward to hearing from you all again, and I appreciate any new voters too. Email me at
