Disclaimer: Once upon a time there was a very rich man named Saban who created a TV series called Power Rangers. Then along came the wicked fic writers who savagely stole his creations without permission. Saban didn't even know about most of these, so he never actually did anything about it, so clearing themselves of blame, the writers started putting disclaimers at the start of their stories. Thanks to the disclaimers, everyone lived happily ever after! The End.

MB This is an idea that just popped into my head (what, another one?) and I had to write it. If you're after action and adventure, I would advise not reading on…. as there isn't any in this. The song I use in it is 'You're My Number One' by S Club 7.

Time Scale: This takes place shortly after Adam, Rocky and Aisha have joined the Rangers.

A Touch of Heaven
By Matt

It was an unnaturally calm day in Angel Grove, there had been no disruptions of any sort for quite some time now, and everyone was appreciating the break, especially one young man who sat alone on a bench in the Park. He sat watching the people walking by, young couples so happily in love, children running past, shouting and having fun, elderly men and women, enjoying each other's company. One thing seemed constant in all of them, happiness, and it was something Adam Park did not quite have at the moment.

Just over a month ago, he and his two life-long friends, Aisha Campbell and Rocky DeSantos, had moved to Angel Grove, and shortly afterwards became Power Rangers. They had all been convinced that the move was for the best, but Adam was not sure. In Stone Canyon, Adam had loads of friends, perhaps not all as close as Aisha and Rocky, but at least they all knew him. In Angel Grove, even after a whole month, he was still unknown to most of them. He had three new friends now, too, Kimberly Hart, Billy Cranston and Tommy Oliver, but five good friends seemed to pale in comaparison to the whole town of friends he had left behind.

But that wasn't all that bothered him. He wished so much to be in love that it hurt. He had so much love to give, but nobody seemed to want it. Back home, there had been a girl, Carla Redding, whom he had liked since they were young. Although he had never dared to make the first move, he thought he was getting there gradually, and probably in just a few more months something might have happened, but even the chance of that was gone now.

He looked out in front of him to where a young couple, only a little older than him sat together on a blanket. The young man had his arm around the girl, and she sat close to him, making it obvious enough to anyone who looked that she was enjoying his company. Adam sighed as he stood up, wishing that it was him down there with someone, someone who loved him.

He started walking slowly along the path, heading towards the exit of the Park when he saw someone sitting on one of the other benches. It was a girl, about his age and she seemed to be smiling at him. Unsure of what to do, he just smiled back as he stopped briefly, then continued walking. Continuing along the path, he was sure he could hear footsteps shortly behind him, but every time he looked back there was nobody there. Walking out between the large gateposts of the park, he stopped suddenly. There on the path in front of him was the girl, the one who had been smiling at him in the Park.

'How did she get here?' Adam wondered. 'She didn't walk past me did she?'

"Hi, my name's Cindy." she said as he approached her, holding out her hand.

Adam was slightly suprised by the sudden introduction, but shook her hand anyway and said, "Adam Park."

"I saw you in the Park, you looked kinda down." she said gently.

"It's nothing, just feeling a bit homesick." Adam replied timidly, trying to avoid looking at her. All he could think when he looked at her was, 'She's beautiful!' Her straight, light brown hair brushed softly over her shoulders, her hazel eyes were so deep and penetrating that he felt she was looking right down inside him as she gazed at him.

"Oh, you don't live here then?" she asked.

"Yeah, I do, but I only moved here a few weeks ago." Adam replied.

"I haven't been here that long myself." she said with a strange smile on her face, then she chuckled slightly. "I was going to ask you if you could show me around, but I guess you get as lost around here as I do."

"Tell me about it! The first time I went to the park it took me an hour to find my way out." Adam grinned, loosening up slightly.

"Whadda you say we go and get a drink or something." Cindy suggested.

"Sure, I know a great Juice bar we can go to." Adam accepted readily.

"Assuming you can find it." Cindy laughed. Smiling happily, the two of them started walking vaguely in the direction of the Youth Center.

Rocky, Aisha and Billy sat at one of the tables in the Youth Center, the same table they had been sat at for most of the day. There had always been one thing or another that had kept them there. First of all, Billy had insisted on staying out until he finished a small invention he was working on, the Rocky had a workout session, then Aisha had got talking to a guy from school who had wandered in. One way or another, the three of them had been there all day, and quite suprisingly had not seen Adam all day. They hadn't seen Tommy or Kim either, but that was because they were out on a date somewhere. None of them had asked exactly where they were going, they didn't like to interfere for the relationship was unstable enough as it was.

Ernie came over with another round of drinks. As he placed them down on the table Rocky asked, "How much do we owe you?"

"These ones are on the house, you three have spent more here today than anyone else, you're my best customers." the large man said with a smile.

"Thanks Ernie." Aisha said gratefully as he walked away.

"Hey guys, here comes Adam." Billy said as he looked over at the door and saw the new Black Ranger coming in.

"Who's that with him?" Aisha asked.

"No idea, I've never seen her before." Billy replied. They all watched in anticipation as Adam and Cindy approached.

"Hi Adam." Aisha said as they walked past, she honestly thought Adam hadn't even noticed them.

"Oh hi guys, I nearly missed you. What's up?" he asked with a broad smile over his face.

"Not a lot." Rocky replied.

"Come on boy, are you going to introduce us or not?" Aisha complained.

"Oh, yeah. Guys, this is Cindy. Cindy, this is Rocky, Aisha and Billy." Adam introduced them. They all said hi briefly before Adam and Cindy went off to another table.

Rocky watched in dismay as his best friend went over to the other table and said, "Huh, we not good enough to sit with?"

"Er, Rocky, I think they might want to be…" Billy started, not quite sure of what word to use next.

"Alone!" Aisha finished for him with a dopey smile across her face.

"What's up with you?" Rocky asked, noticing the expression on Aisha's face.

"Our little Adam's all grown up and got himself a girlfriend!" Aisha said, mocking the tone his mother was sure to use when she found out. They all laughed at it then turned back to what they were doing, leaving the two lovebirds to be alone.

"They seem nice!" Cindy said, looking over at the others.

"Yeah, they're great friends." Adam replied.

"So, tell me more about you, I want to know everything." Cindy requested, staring across the table into his dark eyes. Adam just smiled back, thinking where to start.

The next day, Adam had arranged to meet Cindy again. He had dreamt of her all night. It was strange, no girl had ever effected him like this before, whatever it was he was feeling, it was something he had never felt this strongly in his life, but he liked it. He turned the corner onto the street Cindy's house was on and saw her coming towards him.

"Morning." she said happily to him.

"Hiya, I thought you were going to wait for me at home." Adam said.

"I just thought I'd meet you out here so we can get more of a headstart on our day." she said back, looping her arm into his and turning him round. Her touch sent electricity through his entire body, but as good as it felt, he couldn't help wondering one thing. 'How did she know I'd be coming from this way, I never told her where I live!' he thought, but it soon passed out of his mind.

The day passed quickly, the two of them hardly leaving each others' side. They didn't really do much, in fact they spent a lot of the day just wandering around the Park and talking. It seemed like they had known each other forever, but really it had been less than two days. Adam tried not to get his hopes up so much, but deep, in the back of his mind, he knew that Cindy was the girl for him. She was the one he had to be with. She was not only his true love, but also his soul mate.

He just wondered one thing, though. Did she feel the same? That night he intended to show her. Fortunately there was a dance that night at the Youth Center. He had shocked himself by just asking her straight out to go to it with him. Never before had he ever done that, he had always been too shy, or too unsure of the result, but not this time. He asked and she accepted and that was all there was to it.

The afternoon turned quickly to early evening and they both headed home, getting ready for that night. Adam was so happy about all of it that the smile never left his face. He spent ages getting himself ready, making sure everything was perfect, he wanted the whole evening to be perfect, the whole dance had to be perfect… he just wanted the perfect night!

They had arranged to meet at the Youth Center this time, Adam had suggested that he came round to pick her up, but she had been insistent that he shouldn't. Adam was so eager to get off to a good start that he ended up getting there half an hour early. He held a bunch of twelve red Roses and a corsage, ready to give to her as she arrived.

She walked slowly over to him when she arrived, both of them taking in how good the other looked. "Wow, you look… beautiful!" Adam stuttered as he saw her. She wore an impressive silver dress which Adam promptly pinned the corsage to and handed her the Roses. She was speechless and a tear came to her eye.

"Thank you." she whispered. "Now what do you say we go in there and get this dance going!"

"You're on." Adam grinned as she looped her arm through his. They turned and walked through the doors.

Everyone seemed to stop and watch as they walked in, it was indisputable that they truly looked like a perfect couple. Even Kimberly and Tommy, who were dancing together and staring into each other's eyes didn't look as good together.

"Wow, now that's a match made in heaven!" Aisha said to Billy and Rocky.

"That's one lucky guy!" Rocky said, a slight hint of envy in his voice.

"And a lucky girl too." Aisha said.

The two stars of the dance walked into the middle of the dance floor as a slow song came on. They wrapped their arms around each other and danced slowly around, everyone else watching on. Neither Adam nor Cindy even noticed that they were the center of everyone's attention, all they could see was each other, and they were perfectly happy with that. They almost cursed as the slow song came to an end, replaced by a slightly faster song, because it meant they had to move apart.

Tommy and Kim stood at the side of the room, smiling lovingly at each other. "Have I told you how beautiful you look tonight?" Tommy asked.

"Yeah, quite a few times, but tell me again, I like it!" Kim sai d back with a quiet giggle.

"You're the most incredible girl I've ever seen, just being with you makes me the happiest guy in the world. Just to be able to look at you brings more pleasure than you can imagine." Tommy said, looking her up and down as he spoke, and finally settling his gaze onto her penetrating brown eyes.

"That's so sweet." she squealed, throwing her arms around him. "You've probably been practising that all day, haven't you!"

"No, of course not!" Tommy insisted. "Now let's go get a drink, all that dancing's made me thirsty." As Kim turned to walk away, Tommy pulled a piece of paper from his pocket and looked over the words on it. 'Practise makes perfect!' he grinned, then shoved it back in his pocket.

"Where've you been?" Rocky asked as Adam got back. Cindy had been standing, talking to the other three while Adam went off to do something, although he had not yet said what it was.

"I just had to do something." Adam said sheepishly.

"Aisha was just telling me about the tea parties she used to make you and Rocky go to when you were kids!" Cindy said. "She says you really enjoyed them."

Adam blushed as he thought back to the childhood experiences and glared at Aisha. "She just has an overactive imagination!" Adam insisted. He started to lead Cindy away. As they walked he asked, "She didn't say anything else, did she?"

Cindy just smiled and kissed him quickly on the cheek. The song that had been playing ended and the DJ came over the speaker, saying, "And this one's especially for you, Cindy, from Adam." A song started playing and Cindy just turned to face Adam. She didn't know what to say, so for now she just danced with him as his requested song started playing. It wasn't just another love song, it was something that really summed up how Adam was feeling, and Cindy knew it as she listened to the words.

What is love, cos baby I don't know,
I got a funny feeling in my heart,
If this is love, it feels like butterflies,
So tell me baby is this how it starts?

I know I've never felt like this before,
You're like a drug you've got me wanting more,
I've got to let you know, I've got to let you know,

You're – you're my number one, I'd do anything for you,
Catch the rain from the sky, even hold back the tide for you,
Baby, baby, you're, you're my number one, with you I know I belong,
I put the radio on and it's always playing our song.

Tell me what – what have I gotta do,
Cos I wanna lay a claim on you baby,
To make you mine – for now and for all time,
So tell me baby what I gotta do.

I know I've never felt like this before,
You're like a drug you've got me wanting more,
I've got to let you know – I've got to let you know…

You're – you're my number one, I'd do anything for you,
Catch the rain from the sky, even hold back the tide for you,
Baby, baby, you're, you're my number one, with you I know I belong,
I put the radio on and it's always playing our song…

And there ain't nothing I won't do,
I'd walk on water just to be with you…

You're – you're my number one, I'd do anything for you,
Catch the rain from the sky, even hold back the tide for you,
Baby, baby, you're, you're my number one, with you I know I belong,
I put the radio on and it's always playing our song.

The song ended and Adam stopped where he was. "I really like you, Cindy!" he said.

"I like you too, Adam." Cindy whispered as she stood in his arms.

As the next song started, they slowly made their way outside, Cindy taking a seat on a bench. The sound of the music from inside drifted lightly through the air, mixed in with the smells of the surrounding gardens. Up in the sky, millions upon millions of stars sparkled brightly, constellations staring plain enough for the eye to see.

"Beautiful, isn't it!" Cindy sighed. Adam just nodded. "Adam, what do you see when you look up there?"

"What do you mean?" Adam asked, not quite understanding.

"What do you think when you look up there?" Cindy asked. "When I look up there I see all the people I've ever cared about, but lost, watching down over me. They're up there making sure I'm okay down here."

"Yeah, I like to think that too. It's nice to think there's someone watching over you, it makes you feel…" Adam started.

"Safe?" Cindy asked.

"Yeah." Adam replied. "Yeah, it makes me feel safe." He sat down beside Cindy and put his arm around her. She rested her head on his shoulder and the two of them sat there, holding onto each other and doing nothing more than enjoying being with each other.

The next morning, the other five Rangers were together in the Park. "Adam not joining us again?" Tommy asked.

"No, he's with Cindy again." Aisha replied.

"I think those two are so sweet, Cindy seems pretty nice too." Kim smiled.

"Yeah, I bet Adam's glad there's been no emergencies in the last few days. I'd love to see him explain his way out of that one." Rocky commented.

"So what are we doing today then?" Kim asked.

"I've got a class to teach in a half hour with Rocky, but that's only an hour long. After that I've got nothing else planned." Tommy replied.

"I've got nothing planned." Billy said, Aisha just nodded in agreement. "What did you have in mind?"

"How about a day at the beach." Kim suggested. Everyone quickly agreed and went off their own ways, Kim, Billy and Aisha going to get their stuff for the beach while Tommy and Rocky went off to teach their class.

There was a knock on the door, Cindy stood waiting until the door opened. A young looking Korean woman stood there, smiling. "You must be Cindy." Mrs. Park said as she looked at the young lady on the porch.

"It's nice to meet you!" Cindy replied.

"Do you want to come in and wait for Adam?" she asked.

"It's okay Mom, I'm here." Adam commented, running up behind her. He remembered what had happened when he left her alone with Aisha last night, so he dreaded to think what stories his Mom would have had for her. He kissed his Mom quickly on the cheek, said goodbye and shut the door.

Cindy just smiled at it and started down the path with him. "You know, you really don't have to worry about what they could tell me, I'm not going to stop liking you just because I find out some of the silly things you did as a kid." she commented.

"How did you know that's what I…" he started, then just said, "Thanks!"

"What do you want to do today?" Cindy asked.

"How about a day at the beach?" Adam asked. "Kim phoned me just before I came out and said the others were all going down there."

"Sounds good, I can get to know them all a bit better." Cindy said, then a cruel grin spread across her face. "Aisha said she had some more stories to tell me!"

Adam groaned, but Cindy just out an arm around him and he soon cheered up.

Cindy, Kim and Aisha all lay together on the sand, soaking up the Sun, the two Rangers were really enjoying the other girls' company, for she was like a mix of them both. She had Aisha's eagerness and abruptness, mixed with a little of Kim's subtlety and charm, and just like the both of them, she was always willing to speak her mind.

The guys were a little further up the beach on the Basketball court. Tommy and Billy were on one team, Rocky and Adam on the other. The latter were on the offensive, running down the court, passing the ball rapidly between them. This was where they had the advantage, they had been playing together since they were kids, Tommy and Billy had only had a few months to get used to each other's styles and techniques. On the defensive team, Tommy was doubtlessly the muscle, while Billy the strategist.

The ball flew from Rocky's hands and straight into Adam's, only just missing the intercepting hands of Tommy. As Billy and Tommy rushed him, he jumped up and returned the ball to his team mate, who quickly ran up the court and carried out a perfect slam dunk.

"Nice move!" Adam grinned as he high-fived Rocky.

"Thanks, that was a good set up!" Rocky replied.

"My calculations show that our strengths would be more greatly matched if we just took on one of them each, chasing the ball doesn't seem to be working!" Billy commented.

"No kidding, genius!" Tommy commented sarcastically, frustrated by the continuous losing streak.

Cindy smiled as she watched the four guys, then turned to Kim and said, "He's not a good loser, is he!"

"He's not a team sports kinda guy!" Kim grinned back.

"Anyway, don't pretend you're watching anyone other than Adam, I can see you watching him, girl!" Aisha laughed.

"Why not! He's fun to watch!" Cindy said eagerly.

"You are so lucky. If he wasn't me best friend I would have snatched him up a loooong time ago!" Aisha said. "You've got a good one there!"

"Oh I know." Cindy said quietly. "I know!"

"Adam, are you there?" Cindy asked as she wandered through the building. A couple of hours ago, just after they had all gone home from the beach, Cindy had received a phone call from Adam, asking her to meet him in the Youth Center. It was strange really, especially considering the fact that the Youth Center should have been closed an hour earlier.

She walked through the main entrance hall, heading for the central area. She was actually quite nervous, for she had no idea why she was there, all he had said was that she should turn up around that time, and to dress smartly. She stopped as she saw the main area of the center, it was truly astonishing.

The whole place had been decorated with silver and black streamers, balloons and various other decorations. The most significant part however, was the table in the center of the room. It was dressed wonderfully, the finest bone china, silverware, crystal glasses, and a single candle standing elegantly in the middle.

She walked through slowly, taken aback by it all just as Adam walked in. "Hey, you're early." he smiled at her.

"Adam, did you… do all this for me?" she asked.

"Actually, I was just doing it for fun, but as you're here…" he stated, jokingly.

"Don't try and get funny with me Mr. Park!" Cindy said.

Adam walked over to her and accompanied her to her seat. He sat down opposite and picked up a small remote control. Pressing a button on it, music started playing. She recognised the song instantly, it was the one he had requested for her the previous night. "I guess this is…" Adam started, "…our song?" He seemed wary of suggesting anything that seemed quite so permanent, but when she reached across the table and put her hand on his, he knew he'd done the right thing.

A couple of minutes later, a waiter came out with their first course and the meal began. They spent all four courses eating slowly, talking quietly and looking right across the table into each other's eyes. Quite often, after a time like that, Adam would try to remember what they spoke about, but he never could. They almost never stopped, but it never seemed to be about anything in particular. All he knew was he was hooked on her every word, just hearing her sweet voice passing her lips was a true piece of heaven.

As the conversation slowly quietened and the music became more apparent, Adam stood up. He reached his hand out to her and asked, "May I have this dance?"

Cindy took his hand and the dancing started, the wonderful flowing motions that she went through were almost more than Adam could keep up with. Either she spent all day practising her dancing, or she was just born with natural rhythm and timing, for her steps could hardly be called anything less than perfect. The dancing went on late into the night, neither of them even noticing, the happiness emenating from both of them was plain to see, and such happiness neither of them had ever felt so completely before.

As they turned on the dance floor, Adam happened to glance over at a clock. "It's late!" he commented. "Would you like me to take you home?"

She seemed slightly disappointed that the evening had ended, but finally she replied, "Could you walk me home. I want tonight to last as long as possible!"

"Me too!" Adam said back coyly. Cindy waited for Adam as he went into the back and told his hosts that they were leaving. He had deliberately asked them to stay and clean up for him because he knew he'd be taking her home. When it was done, he returned to the girl and led her outside.

Angel Grove at night was a real marvel to behold, the skyscrapers lit up, stretching towards the clouds, the endless streets, the lights everywhere illuminating the mini metropolis. A tribute to mankind's technological advances. But then, there was another side of Angel Grove, completely different, but no less beautiful, and it was that part that Adam and Cindy were now experiencing. As they stepped out of the Youth Center, they were near enough in the park already. The natural paradise was astounding. Other than the small concrete path and pale twinkle of lights in the far distance, there was almost no sign of human presence ever being in the place, nothing but flowers, trees, endless greens and yellows and browns, all the colors of nature. Then, as they looked up to the sky, they saw the stars again, a million million tiny white flares, each one massive and fierce, yet looking so tiny and calm.

The Moon was full and its light shone down on them as they walked along holding hands. Hardly a word had yet passed between them until Adam could bare it no longer, he just stopped and faced the girl. "Cindy, I just have to tell you something." he said quickly, almost as if he were rushing to get something he didn't want to do out of the way.

"What is it?" she asked, seeing the worry glinting in his eye alongside the moonlight. She reached up and brushed her hand gently through his short dark hair and then down the side of his face until her palm rested on his cheek. He closed his eyes briefly and pushed into it, enjoying the tenderness of her touch.

"Cindy, I… I love you so much! Since the moment we met you've been all I can think about. When I'm with you I feel like the happiest guy in the world, and when I'm not with you I don't feel whole. It's like I've always been just half of something, then you came along and I found out where I belong – with you, we're a part of each other and I love you!" he said gently.

"I don't know what to say!" Cindy stuttered. She looked away for a moment, an almost pained expression on her face. "This isn't the way I wanted it to happen!" she mumbled.

"Didn't want what to happen?" Adam asked, getting worried now as she had not returned his gesture.

"Adam, I love you too, but…" she started, the trailed off.

"But what?" Adam demanded, he could almost feel what she was going to say before she said it.

"I love you Adam, but we're not meant to be together, we're not right together!" Cindy said painfully, she could see it striking through Adam with each word, but she couldn't stop now. "I knew we couldn't be together before any of this even started, but I just had to do it!"

"But why?" Adam said, his eyes watering slightly.

"I… I can't explain. I had to do this to show you something." Cindy said, turning away from him, the pain, the heartbreak in his eyes and right across him was tearing her apart.

"To show me something?" he echoed.

"Adam, before you met me, you were starting to wonder if you could ever really be happy, weren't you?" she asked.

He stopped and thought for a moment, then just said, "Why does that matter, I am… I could be, happy now!"

"No Adam, I already said, we can't be together, it just can't happen. I just did this to show you that you can be happy, you can love and you can belong. You may feel you're alone right now but you will never be alone! You have some great friends, never forget that, but most important, there IS someone out there for you. There's someone out there who is perfect for you!"

"There's someone perfect for me right here, why can't you see that?" Adam snapped, putting a hand on her shoulder.

She turned sharply and said, "I can see that! Don't you think I feel it too. I love you more than I've ever loved anyone, but we can't! Please don't make this any harder than it already is. We can't be together."

"Then why? Just tell me why!" Adam pleaded.

"Adam, I have to go." Cindy said. She kissed him quickly on the cheek, looked into his eyes for a moment, then ran off. It took Adam a moment to start after her, but he soon realised she was gone, he couldn't see her anywhere.

In a daze, Adam started walking, not sure what he was doing or where he was going. All he knew was that the girl he loved with all his heart had suddenly broken up with him for no apparent reason. How could she? He loved her so much, and he thought she loved him too, so how could she do this to him? Angel Grove Park seemed to go on forever, but Adam knew he was just walking in circles. As the Sun started to peak over the trees in the distance he started to make his way home, the day's early starters only just starting to appear. He passed several people on the way home who said hello, but he didn't hear them, or didn't care.

His father was just on his way out as he was going in. A little small talk passed between them, mainly his father questioning him on why he was coming back so late. Speaking through instinct without thinking about it he answered and wandered inside. As he got inside his room and shut the door, he leaned back against it and slid down until he sat on the ground. With his face in his hands he started crying uncontrollably, all the pain of the split bursting out. What made it worse was that they had only been going out a few days and he felt like that anyway. That just made him think they were more meant for each other than he did before.

"Where is he?" Aisha demanded, seeming concerned.

The other four Rangers all smiled as Rocky said, "Don't pretend to be worried. You only want him to get here so you can get the gossip about last night."

"Hey, that's not…" Aisha started, then thought about it. "Yeah, I suppose that's true, but I am worried too!"

"Don't worry, he'll be here any minute." Tommy insisted.

"There he is now." Kim said as Adam came through the door. They all got up and ran over to him, questioning him rapidly. He said nothing as he walked back over to their table. They all followed and sat back down, awaiting his answers. They were all so eager to hear how well last night had gone that they didn't even realise how awful he looked.

"So come on boy, dish it!" Aisha insisted.

Adam just looked blankly at them all for a moment then just said, "We split up!"

"What!" they all exclaimed in unison, quickly followed with a chorus of who's, what's, why's, where's, and when's.

"I don't know why, it just kinda happened." Adam said vaguely. "I'm… I'm about to go over and see her, see if we can sort this out."

"Want one of us to come with you?" Rocky asked.

"No, I've gotta do this myself." Adam insisted. It was now that they really looked at him. His clothes looked messy, like he hadn't even been thinking about it while he got dressed. His face was pale and his eyes were the worst, they were dark underneath and reddened by tears. In silence, they watched as he left once again, leaving them all naturally worried.

The heartbroken boy walked along to Cindy's house and started wondering why she had been so keen to keep him away, it was a nice house, quite big, large picturesque garden. He walked along the path to the front door and knocked. A woman pulled the door open. She looked about ten years older than his own mother.

"Erm… Is Cindy here?" Adam asked quietly.

"I beg your pardon?" she asked.

"Cindy, is she here?" Adam reiterated.

"My daughter? Are you a friend of hers?" she asked.

"Yeah, kind of." Adam replied.

"Well you can't have been that close to her or you would have known." she said, an almost pained look on her face.

"Known what?" Adam asked, starting to get terribly confused.

"Cindy died six years ago." the woman commented.

"She can't have done." Adam said in disbelief. "Look, I think I know when my own daughter died." the woman insisted. Both stood in silence for a moment. "Wait a minute, are you Adam?"

"Yeah!" Adam said eagerly, hoping that the excuse had been made up to keep unwelcome people away, but instead she said, "Wait here," and turned to go back inside.

When she came back, she held a small envelope. "I found this in Cindy's room with instructions that one day someone named Adam would come asking for her and that I should give it to you."

"Thank you." Adam said quietly, taking it and walking away. As he walked aimlessly down the street he opened the letter.

Dear Adam,

I don't have long, just go to the hill in Angel Grove Park tonight at 11 o'clock and take a radio!

That was all it said.

Adam said nothing to any of the others about what he had found out, or about the letter and the meeting. The others all steered clear of him for the day, knowing that he would want to be alone. The day dragged by, but eventually night fell and Adam made his way to the small hill in the center of the Park. He sat down and put the small radio on beside him. Once again it was a beautiful, just like the last few nights.

He sat looking round for Cindy, hoping she was going to turn up. He was looking for her so intently that he hardly even heard what was happening on the radio.

"And now we have a special request." the DJ said. "This one goes to Adam from Cindy with the message, think about what I said about the stars and remember, you'll never be alone as long as I'm here!"

Adam could hardly believe it. He looked up into the sky. Cindy had said she thought all the people she had cared about watched down from her up there, now, was she watching over Adam? If she had died six years ago, had she just been…? He was broken from the thoughts as the requested song came on.

What is love, cos baby I don't know,
I got a funny feeling in my heart,
If this is love, it feels like butterflies,
So tell me baby is this how it starts.

I know I've never felt like this before,
You're like a drug, you've got me wanting more,
I've got to let you know, I've got to let you know…

You're, you're my number one, I'd do anything for you,
Catch the rain from the sky, even hold back the tide for you,
Baby, baby, you're, you're my number one, with you I know I belong,
I put the radio on and it's always playing our song…

A tear trickled from Adam's eye as he listened to their song. Laying back he looked up at the stars, at Cindy, and one of them seemed to glow brighter, a flash, almost lime it was winking at him. He let another tear roll down his face.

You're, you're my number one, I'd do anything for you,
Catch the rain from the sky, even hold back the tide for you,
Baby, baby, you're, you're my number one, with you I know I belong,
I put the radio on and it's always playing our song.

"Thank you, Cindy!" Adam whispered.

I put the radio on and it's always playing our song.
