That's if I'm doing completely nothing and don't have any more writers block. Even though this story is being written only one chapter at a time, I ask that anyone who would want to Beta-read this fic to please feel free to go ahead and do so. Any critique can be mailed to me at the link below. (Zelda Martial)

I would also ask you to email me if you would like to use any aspect of my story. The reason for this, especially with Zelda, is because the storyline is complex and has taken me since 1991 to create to where it is now. It is also under constant reconstruction so some items are subject to change. I will also have several standalones, which have nothing to do with the main sequence of events. I will tell you when that is so. I just want you to know that I am posting this against my better judgment because all my ideas are subject to change. I really wanted to wait and post it when the whole thing was typed, but I just want to get it out there and then post the final version on my site when complete. Any critique is welcome. I will also soon have out a guide to my characters. Thank you. I give to you now...

Taking Command
By Zelda Martial

While Valhor had spoken that, Taka had slipped Zelda a skeleton key to the chains that bound her arms and legs together. Zelda covertly picked the one lock that held both the chains around her wrists and ankles.

"Oh Valhor," Zelda spoke as soon as she had finished picking the lock. Valhor had turned back to the door and had already begun walking with his Royal Guard to where ever it was he was going to take Zelda. "I don't think you'll be taking us any where soon." Zelda then dropped the chains off her wrists.

Chapter Twelve: Taking Command

No sooner had Zelda dropped the chains than Taka handed to her, her gold quasar saber, which had been secretly taken from Valhor.

With Zelda's saber within her hands, Taka too, transformed into her humanoid self.

"Another-" Valhor's sentence was interrupted by Zelda.

"You were right Valhor," Zelda pointed the tip of her quasar saber at the throat of her enemy. "There was no one who could get me out of this mess. However," Zelda then walked bravely towards Valhor while lowering her sword. "It is not Byst or Taka who will free me. In fact, no one will get me out of here except for me. As for my friends, I plan to free them from your insidious rule." As an after thought Zelda added, "I owe them that much for what they did for my people."

While Zelda had spoken to Valhor, Taka and Byst watched the six royal guards carefully. The royal guards had a history of being temperamental when the one they were supposed to guard was in danger. This time though, they didn't make a move to rescue their lord. This might have been because Zelda had made eye contact with them that told them that if they made one move their king would be dead. Zelda then motioned to Valhor to step inside the cell in which she had been held prisoner for the last couple of days. She then placed the chains that had bound her ankles and wrists on Valhor and then stepped out of the cell and slammed the cell door shut.

Zelda then turned her attention to the royal guards.

"I am now taking command of this vessel. Any of you who object will not have the same lenience as I have given your leader. Do any of you object now?" Zelda had now taken her saber and pointed it directly towards the guards. Taka and Byst had taken defensive action in case one of the royal windbags tried to harm Zelda, not taking away from the fact that Zelda was highly capable of defending herself on her own. None of the guards objected at first. They stood silent as a mouse not moving, or twitching, a solitary muscle.

Valhor, though, had another plan.

"Get her!" He commanded his guards. His seven guards then rushed Zelda, but they hadn't gotten farther than that before Taka and Byst both rushed in front of Zelda to protect her. Taka then summoned an invisible shield that surrounded her, Byst and Zelda, and had saved them from being sliced in half.

The seven royal guards kept trying to hit the trio with their own sabers but their efforts were futile. The invisible shield that Taka had summoned fully protected them.

"Lower the shield." Zelda told Taka.

"But the guards..." Taka began to protest Zelda's command.

"I know what I'm doing." Zelda replied, stepping in front of Byst and to the side of Taka. "Lower it." As the Taka lowered the shield, one of the guards attacked Zelda again, only this time, Zelda countered by bringing her own saber hilt to hilt his own.

Zelda than pushed the guard back into the other six behind him and finished off her counter attack.

"You are loyal. I'll give you that much. However, unlike your "Lord", I do not repay such acts with death." Zelda glared at Valhor. She than motioned for all seven of the guards to cram themselves into the second cell, which was slightly bigger than the one she had been put in, but with all seven of the guards in there, there wouldn't be much moving space. Byst tossed Zelda the key to the cells in the room just as she barely got the door closed. Locking the cell door of the guards and Valhor", Zelda turned back to her fellow Tryforians.

"We have to get to the bridge. Stop all this madness before it gets out of hand." Zelda, Byst, and Taka exited the Cell room and then began walking towards the bridge. Zelda stopped abruptly a few paces from the Cell room door though and turned back to face it.

"Is there anyway for someone to help them escape?" Zelda asked her two companions.

"There is but one key that goes to the door and cell locks." Byst replied. He then turned to face Zelda eye to eye. "And you carry that key."

Zelda looked at the key chain which was now securely on the belt of her GSA uniform. The lone key that was connected to it clanked silently against her leg.

"Very well then." Zelda then continued to lead the way to the bridge. It had been several years since she had been on the flagship of the Varox Imperial Cruiser Fleet, but to her, it seemed like it was just yesterday. She hadn't forgotten the many passageways that weaved through the flagship, nor did she forget that for those who didn't know the ship, there were dead ends, literally. This was incase any enemies of the Varox were to come on board and try to take it over. More often than not, half of the opposing forces on the vessel would be killed in these dead ends. Like Valhor was fond of saying, "Both my enemies and my allies will all die eventually, my enemies sooner than my allies". It was enough to make Zelda sick.

Five steps ahead was the turbo lift transporter that would take them to the bridge. Zelda walked cautiously up to the merging point in the corridor and when the coast was clear, she motioned for Taka and Byst to follow her into the lift.

Zelda hated to tell Taka and Byst to do this again, but in order for their takeover to work, they all needed to. Much to Zelda surprise, when she told them what they had to do, they didn't complain at all and carried out the command. After they had transformed, Zelda did also. They lift doors opened and Zelda and company walked out onto the spacious bridge of Valhor's crowned jewel.

The three of them entered out onto the bridge and as soon as they had, Valhor's Tactical officer began to talk to Zelda, not knowing who she truly was.

"My Lord," The warrior moved from his station to intercept Zelda at the captain's chair in the center of the bridge. "We have word from Stinky that she is ready to proceed."

"Excellent." Zelda, as Valhor, had to act her part. It tore her apart inside to have to play her mortal enemy, but at least in this form she could regulate how Terra Venture was attacked. Zelda's gaze flickered over the bridge crew and she caught Taka and Byst's attention. Zelda's gaze to those two indicated that they had won a minor battle, but the major war was beginning to take shape.

"Send out the Stink Brigade." Zelda ordered her tactical officer.

"Right away my Lord." Was the warrior's response.

~*~

Meanwhile, onboard Terra Venture, the rangers had decided on meeting in the Golden Way Park to talk about the events that occurred and also what had woken them up and kept them from falling asleep again.

Five minutes later, all the rangers, including Delphi, were present. They chose a spot to sit in front of the Guardian of Terra Venture, which was dimly lit by a bright light post twenty feet away because it was still night.

They began talking to one another and talked for about twenty minutes before Damon noticed something strange floating in the air.

"My god what is that smell?" He exclaimed.

Soon, every one else noticed it too. Delphi's eyes then wandered away from the group and were scanning the vicinity in which they occupied. What her eyes found was nothing that she was expecting to see.

"Oh my god." Delphi gasped.

Towering in the air was a sculpture that had appeared out of nowhere. It was shaped like a thirty-five foot skunk and out of its mouth came Stinky and her thousands of foot soldiers.

"Guardian, if you're here, we need you." Delphi prayed to the statue of the Guardian of Terra Venture.

"Guardian, if you're here, we need you." These words echoed through Zelda's brain as she looked at the main view apparatus still in disguise.

"I know." Zelda's reply echoed in her brain for in this vessel, there was no way she could contact Delphi and tell her that she was okay. "Hold on you guys. I'm coming as fast as I can."

To Be Continued...

led wit""
