Let's Get Together
By Crypt

"Ooh!" Rachel squealed, holding up a picture of a large flower pot holding an enormous bouquet of roses. "Here are some flowers! These are the kinds Mommy likes. Why don't we get her those?"

Robyn looked up from her magazine and shook her head. "Nah. She's already got so many flowers. I bet her room could turn into a garden." She looked in her magazine again.

Rachel noticed Robyn's interest in the magazine. "Mommy's and Daddy's reading lessons really helped us, especially you. Now, you're even reading kids' magazines! What are you reading?"

Robyn smiled as she gazed at her sister again. "You wanna hear?"

"Please!"

Then, Robyn began to recite the article. "Autism: A Blessing or a Curse? Autism is a severe emotional disorder that is characterized by lack of communication, extreme concern for oneself, and detachment from reality. The known facts about autism is that they range from mild to severe.

"Most people who have this disorder do not speak. Others barely know anything beyond their egocentric thoughts. Very little is known about the causes of autism. Most victims of this disorder have had this since the day they were born.

"However, autism does have several advantages. One of the most notable advantages is that they increase some abilities, especially in music and mathematics. A young lady who was born with mild autism has made a very powerful social life in school with many friends her age. Along with that, she has an incredible talent of making beautiful music by playing soft jazz on the piano.

"The debate rages on, not only on the causes of this disorder, but also on the fact that they can't identify it as either a blessing or a curse."

Robyn looked up at her sister, astonished that Robyn had said all the words so articulately correct. But Rachel's attention was more towards how autism had helped some people. "Robyn?" Rachel asked. "Did you say, "'music,' in that paragraph?"

Robyn double checked, then nodded. "Yep, music!"

"You know how gifted we are at music? Especially songs we can make up ourselves?"

"Yeah," Robyn answered, almost giggling. "Aunt Hanim has taught me so well on the violin, and you on the piano. Daddy told me last night that we might be musicians one d–" Stopping short, Robyn looked up at Rachel's excited face. Then, she began to giggle with excitement.

"Do you think that we could…?" Rachel started to ask.

At the same time, Robyn started to ask, "Are you thinking what I'm…?"

Very excited, neither one could finish their questions. But they agreed on one thing. They ran out of their room and looked around. Finding no one in a hurry, Rachel looked up to see one of Deca's lights. "Deca? Where's everybody?"

"Your parents are on the bridge, along with the other Rangers, Jenny, and Hanim," Deca answered in her normal computer tone.

"Thanks," Rachel responded. She and Robyn ran out to the bridge. They were so excited about their new plan that they almost ran into Jenny as she exited the bridge!

"Whoa!" she shouted as she realized who crashed into her legs. "Careful, girls, okay? We don't want you to get hurt."

"Aunt Hanim's in there?" Robyn asked, pointing to the bridge.

"Yes, she is," Jenny answered. Then, whatever destination Jenny had in mind, she continued to go in that particular direction.

But the two girls ran into the bridge. Chanting in unison, they grabbed everyone's attention. "Aunt Hanim? Aunt Hanim? Aunt Hanim? Aunt Hanim?"

Laughing, Hanim turned her attention away from work. "Yes, girls?"

"We need to talk to you," Rachel said.

"We need to tell you something," Robyn added.

"Privately," they finished unanimously.

"Oh," Hanim whispered. Then, she turned to her other friends. "Excuse me for a minute, you guys. I'm sure they haven't touched anything or got into any trouble."

Everyone snickered at the thought that they could have gotten into trouble on the ship. Deca would warn them if the twins were in danger.

When the three females entered the SimuDeck, Hanim looked at the girls. "You two are up to something; I know it! What is going on?"

"Isn't Mommy's Day coming up?" Rachel asked.

"Well, it's actually called Mother's Day, but I guess it means the same thing," Hanim corrected. "And yes, it's coming in just a few days."

"And we didn't want to give Mommy something she already has or something she won't like or anything of the sort," Robyn added.

"You are her daughters," Hanim said. "Whatever you give her, she'll love it and she'll love you."

"Well, still, we want to give her something special," Robyn said.

"Like a concert!" Rachel screamed.

For a moment, Hanim said nothing. She just stood still and thought. She knew that these girls were well taught in music, enough to perform in their spare time. But a real concert for their mother? She thought that it would be too much unnecessary pressure for the twins.

Then again, they're doing this for their mother, and they had hoped to test their music skills sometime in the near future. So why not on Mother's Day? It would be just as great on that day as it would any other time in the near future.

"You girls really want to do a concert?" Hanim asked.

"Yes! For Mommy!" they answered together.

"All right, girls. If it's a concert you girls want, a concert you shall give! But we'll have to practice a little harder. Mother's Day is only a couple days away, and we'll have to work to put out your best effort. Okay?"

"Okay," they answered.

"Want to start practicing now?"

"YES!!!"

Trakeena walked out to the door leading to the throne room. She leaned by the door and heard a conversation. "I have hidden zillions and zillions of my little eggs under the ground of Terra Venture," a female cackling voice informed.

When Trakeena peeked around the door's edge, she saw what looked like the combination of a white wasp and a black scorpion. She had large piercing blue-green eyes, and what looked like a hive was her left hand. She had gray, fuzzy hair, running from the top of her head to the bottom of her back.

"They should hatch and attack very soon," she added.

"Soon?" Scorpius roared, standing up. Many of his minions back off the escape his wrath. "I want them to hatch, NOW!"

"Now?" the female monster asked, completely shocked and afraid. "These things take time, but I'll see what I can do."

She teleported out in a serious of green circles. Scorpius sat down, his temper calm now. "Once those eggs hatch and start attacking, the Power Rangers and the Spice Club would be too distracted to search for the Lights of Orion. Treacheron!"

"Yes, Scorpius," he answered, bowing before his master.

"You shall take the Stingwingers and Astronema's minions to assist you in retrieving them. Our enemies would not be able to stand in our way."

"But what of Magna Defender?" Treacheron asked. "He is too detracted of searching for the Lights that he would not assist the Spice Club destroy the hatchlings. He would be the ultimate entanglement between us and the Lights."

"That is why I shall send Astronema after you if you shall need the assistance. Now leave, all of you. You should prepare for the signal Momma Mite shall send us when the eggs are hatched and attacking that ship."

Everyone exited out a door to the other side of the throne room, except for Treacheron. He exited out the door Trakeena was overhearing from. She stopped him the moment he passed through the door. Looking to one side, he saw her.

"Treacheron, I want to go with you, to be there when you find the Lights of Orion," Trakeena said.

"But your father told you to stay here. He would have one of our heads if he finds out."

"But he doesn't have to know if you and I don't tell him, right? And Astronema and her minions do not know of that rule, so they will think it is acceptable, as well. Scorpius will never know; trust me." She extended her hand, asking if it would be a deal.

Hesitant, Treacheron shook hands with her and vowed to remain silent. Now, one more warrior was waiting for Momma Mite's signal.

~*~

"Now, girls!" Hanim shouted. "Don't get fussy now! It would be no good if your mother finds out if you two are fighting. Now, what's the problem?"

Both of the twins talked in unison, saying the other despises the way she plays. Both Rachel and Robyn were ready to slap each other with their own weapons; Rachel was ready with her piano's music sheets, and Robyn raised her violin slightly higher, ready to strike.

But Hanim separated the girls before they had the chance to injure each other. "Now, girls! We are not competing for a prize. This is your mother we are talking about. You girls said you wanted a concert, not a competition. Now, Rachel, you tell me your side of the story."

"Well, Aunt Hanim, I was singing and playing and having a terrific time, and Robyn had to go and ruin it with her nasty…!"

But Hanim interrupted Rachel. "Are you referring to Robyn's violin playing?"

"I am."

"It would be wise to watch what you are saying before you say anything, Rachel," Hanim advised. "An insult might not mean anything to you right now, but you can't reach out into the air, grab onto your words, and put them back in your mouth. Now, Robyn, tell me what you think is wrong."

"The only thing I see wrong is that Rachel is jamming her fingers on the piano without thinking about what she's playing, and then tells me to stop my noise when all I'm doing is playing."

"Girls. We are going to do this for your mother. If you both want to impress her, that's fine. But you cannot impress her if you two continue to fight like this. Do you really want to do this for your mother, girls?"

"Yes, Ma'am," they said together.

"Good. To do that, you need to at least resolve your problems and arguments. Maybe work together. I cannot force you girls to do anything, but your mother would not be happy with either of you if you two can't get along together. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, Ma'am," they said again.

A pounding noise suddenly came from the SimuDeck door. Thinking that it was their mother, Rachel and Robyn quickly put away the small music arrangements. Then, Hanim stopped the simulation. "Deca, who is pounding on the door?"

"Kendrix is knocking, Hanim, not pounding," Deca answered.

"Hmm," Hanim said. "It must sound like pounding in these echoing walls. Deca, allow Kendrix to enter."

A few seconds later, Kendrix and Maya came in. They had a worried look on both faces. "Hanim, you'd better come see this," Maya panted as they exited the SimuDeck. Hanim followed them. Filled with curiosity, the twins followed them.

The Rangers, Jenny, Ruth, and the newest Spices were already on the bridge. When Hanim and the girls entered , the screen presented a Live news broadcast from Terra Venture. A male reporter with a microphone in his hand was talking right to the camera.

"An unusual incident has occurred in Terra Venture. An earthquake had occurred and the ground has had cracks in the streets like a dry desert. What's more, unusual bugs have crawled out from the crevices in the ground and the streets. Not only are they feeding off of the very buildings and vehicles of Terra Venture, but they are also attacking any and every human in their path. People have broken out into diseases from as mild as fevers and headaches to as severe as seizures. The bugs are currently…"

But he was interrupted when a young girl's scream filled the air: "They're heading this way! They're heading this way! Head for cover! Head for cover!"

In a quick moment, the camera presented people panicking and running. Another moment later, the camera was cut off.

For a while longer, no one spoke. Then, the silence was broken. "Well, what are we waiting for?" Rachel asked.

"Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!" Robyn shouted.

"Let's Rocket!" Andros shouted.

"Go Galactic!" Leo shouted.

They all arrived in the streets. People everywhere were fleeing in the opposite direction. A huge swarm of the insects approached the team.

"Bug off!" Jenny shouted.

Instead, the swarm swooped down from the skies and attacked the Spices, seeing that they had no morphed costumes to protect them.

"Aggh! Get off of me!" Hanim shouted.

Ruth screamed and fell to the ground as one of the bugs bit at her shoulder. Robyn responded to the scream immediately by hitting using her weapon, the Divine Scepter. She hit every single bug that hovered over her mother.

Attacking the Rangers was much more difficult for these bugs. One tried to simply sting Damon, but wound up injuring itself from the attempt. Several more tried to work together to bite through Cassie's costume, but they all failed.

Noticing the how poorly the attack was continuing, the bugs departed for more vulnerable prey.

Carlos ran to check on Ruth. Her unconscious body lay still on the ground. She appeared to be lifeless. But when Carlos placed his fingers on her neck to check on her pulse, he found that it was much faster than normal. He shook her very gently. "Ruth? Can you hear me?"

~*~

Carlos placed Ruth on the bed of the infirmary, and Andros started to scan her.

"Is Mommy going to die?" Rachel asked.

"No, sweetheart," Carlos answered. "She's just very sick."

"When will she get better?" Robyn asked.

"I don't know, dear. I wish I did, but I don't."

Rachel stood for a minute, then turned to Hanim. "Aunt Hanim, can we talk to you for a second?" They walked out of the infirmary with Robyn following them. "Aunt Hanim? Is it our fault that Mommy is sick?"

Hanim was shocked. "Of course not. Why?"

"Well, because we have been fighting and hating each other and Mommy would not like that kind of thing. I thought she's so mad at us that she's sick."

Hanim chuckled. "No, honey. It's not your fault that your mother is sick. First of all, she doesn't know that you two have been fighting. Secondly, even if she did know, you had nothing to do with those bugs attacking her."

"So, it's not our fault?" Robyn asked.

Hanim shook her head. "No, darling. It's no one's fault. I'll tell you what. Why don't we go back in there and see if there is a way to help your mother, hmm?"

The three ladies reentered the infirmary as Andros finished the scan. "I've never seen this kind of thing before. I don't know what to say. She's got me stumped, but I can say this: If we can't find an antidote soon, we're going to lose her."

Everyone was silent when they heard that. *How many times before had Ruth risked her life to save us?* Jenny asked herself. *I've lost count.*

Carlos looked around for his two little girls. He knew that they would have been the most emotional about the possible death of their mother. They were not in sight. "Where's Rachel and Robyn?"

Everyone looked around. "I don't see them," Cassie said.

"How long have they been missing?" Maya asked.

"They were with me only a few seconds ago," Hanim said.

"Deca, where are Rachel and Robyn?" Andros asked.

"They have teleported to Terra Venture," Deca replied.

"Let's go," Leo said, as he ran out the door. The others followed him.

~*~

Rachel and Robyn were hunting for at least one of the bugs that were attacking. They wanted to bring just one bug to Andros, so that he might find an antidote from what information the bug would provide.

They were in a forest, thinking that the bugs might be found in there. Looking up ahead they say that there was a fork in the pathway.

Rachel looked down the path that went to the left. "This way would lead us into the streets. That's where people are, and these bugs are attacking people. I think that best way to find them is to go this way."

But Robyn looked down the path that went to the right. "This path would lead us to one of those cracks these bugs came from. There must still be more hatching, so we might find them there. We need to go this way. Besides, the other path is much more dangerous."

"What makes you think so?" Rachel asked sarcastically.

Robyn shook her head. "Don't talk like a grown-up to me! I don't think so; I know so!"

"All right! Why is that way more dangerous?"

"People would be running from them, and we want to get to them. We are but little kids, and it is likely that they would hurt us without the intention. If we go left, we are likely to get hurt by both people and the bugs; but if we go right, we are only likely to get hurt by the bugs."

"Why doesn't Mommy and Daddy teach you anything about logic?" Rachel stormed down the path that went to the left.

Robyn ran after her. "Come back! You're going the wrong way!"

But Rachel kept on running from her. And Robyn kept on running after her. After a few more minutes, they got tangled in the vines that were in the middle of the path. Rachel escaped easily, but was so frightened that she gave a scream as she continued running.

Robyn, on the other hand, was much more tangled in the vines. What's more, Rachel's scream had brought Momma Mite to the scene. Identifying Robyn as a Spice Club member, from the Spice Ring that was on her finger, Momma Mite started walking to her. Robyn struggled with the vines until one finally broke, allowing Robyn more freedom to escape from the vines.

Robyn ran as fast as she could as Momma Mite tried to get through the vines. Robyn arrived at the streets. She ran down the street until she approached an abandoned warehouse. It was there where someone grabbed Robyn by the collar and dragged her to the side of the warehouse. When Robyn turned around, she saw her sister.

"Rachel! You scared me!"

"What happened? I thought you were right behind me."

"Well, I was! Until you left me back there, tangled up in those vines and a monster almost capturing me!"

"Robyn, listen! I'm getting tired about us arguing about who did what to whom. It had started ever since we wanted to do that concert for Mommy. Whenever we want to do things by ourselves, we wind up fighting about who's better. This arguing is childish and we're much too old for that!"

Robyn thought for a second. "But we're children; we're supposed to do childish things."

Rachel shook her head. "All I'm saying is that, despite you being Mommy's future, we have to work together. Just like Aunt Hanim said when all this started. And if we can't help Mommy together, then we'll help each other. We're sisters!"

Robyn smiled at Rachel, and she smiled back. They hugged each other. The embrace lasted for a while, then was interrupted by two evil voice laughing, one male and one female. The two girls looked at who was laughing. There were two monsters looking almost exactly alike. Robyn recognized the female as Momma Mite, but she had never seen the male before.

"Aww, how touching," the male sneered. "Too bad you won't live long enough to last this friendship." From it's dark green eyes, the monster fired two lasers, one knocking off each of the girls. They struggled to help each other up.

"Good shot, son," Momma Mite praised. "Now, finish them!"

"Son?" Rachel asked herself. "That is her son? Boy, does she have a naughty boy!"

The monster ran to the alley way where Rachel and Robyn were. Thinking quickly, Rachel grabbed onto the railing of some stairs on the side of the warehouse and climbed up, with Robyn following her. The monster fired it's lasers again. This time, it missed the two girls by several inches.

Robyn stopped for a second. She took her Divine Scepter, powered it up, and fired several shots at the monster. He stumbled backwards, then got up. But before he could resume his chase, several shots hit him from the side.

Robyn looked around the corner to see Manga Defender! Of course, she had never seen him before, so she didn't recognize him. Robyn continued climbing up until she reached the top, where Rachel was waiting for her.

They watched as Magna Defender took turns between Momma Mite and her son. Momma Mite had the advantage for a short while, but Magna Defender took his Magna Blaster and attempted to shoot at her. But she managed to avoid all the shots.

By this time, the Rangers, Jenny, and Hanim had arrived on the scene. They started to attack on Momma Mite, but most of them just watched.

"Let's take care of the mom first," Rachel suggested. "She's got more power than her son right now, and it would be easier to rid of her first."

"Right," Robyn answered. She took the Divine Scepter again, aimed at Momma Mite, and imagined that her scepter was a crossbow. As the Divine Scepter started to glow a blue color, she slowly took her other hand and imagined that she was pulling back the "string" of the "crossbow." Then, she fired, and an energy shot out from the scepter and struck at Momma Mite.

She gave a scream as the energy struck her. She continued screaming as she tried to regain control of herself. She had lost her strength, fell down to the ground, and was destroyed.

The Rangers and the Spices looked up to see Rachel and Robyn, cheering, screaming, and hugging each other. Underneath his helmet, Carlos smiled at them. Hanim also smiled, happy that they learned to get along together.

"In all of your celebration and excitement, you have still forgotten me!" the other monster shouted. Flashes of light covered him for a split second, and then, he transformed into the zillions and zillions of hatchlings that were attacking Terra Venture.

Several of them dashed for the remaining Spices, including Rachel and Robyn. The others were only distracting the Rangers and Magna Defender. Rachel and Robyn have easily gotten rid of the bugs bothering them.

"I have no time for this foolishness!" Magna Defender shouted. Rachel and Robyn watched to see Magna Defender take his Magna Blaster and fire at many of the bugs. "I must find the Lights of Orion!" With that, he dashed away into the forest.

"Mommy has talked about him before," Robyn said.

"I wonder where he goes when he runs off like this?" Rachel asked.

"I don't know. Let's go find out," Robyn suggested.

With that, they climbed down the building side and went back into the forest. They easily caught up with Magna Defender and followed him. They were not spotted, although Magna Defender thought he heard footsteps.

Magna Defender walked through some thickets full of thorns with great ease. Rachel and Robyn, however, could only look through them. They saw Magna Defender, crouched behind a tree. And there was also Treacheron and Trakeena. Like Magna Defender, they were also looking for the lights.

Magna Defender rushed from behind the tree and attacked them. Treacheron blocked his attempt to injure Trakeena. Soon after that, Trakeena fell to the ground. Knowing that she would only be in the way, Treacheron took only one moment to teleport Trakenna back to the Scorpion Stinger.

Treacheron had the advantage most of the time. He blocked every single attack Magna Defender made. He twirled in the air, kicking him to a tree, where Magna Defender struck his back against the trunk.

Seeing that, Rachel and Robyn quickly but quietly walked by the thickets, seeing if there's a way to get around them. Although they found no end, they did find a large hole. Using the Divine Scepter, Robyn managed to made the hole slightly larger, large enough for them to jump through.

They were not seen when they got back to where Treacheron had Magna Defender where he wanted him. "I have waited a long time to do this!" Treacheron, as he prepared to kill his opponent.

*Now or never,* Rachel thought. They ran as fast as they could. They jumped at Treacheron. Rachel began tugging at his legs. Robyn had her legs as best around his waist as she could, and her arms around his neck.

"You leave him alone!" Robyn shouted.

"Let go of me! This is not your business," Treacheron said.

"It is so our business!" Rachel responded. "Besides, even if it isn't, it wouldn't be right for us to let you kill him like some sport!"

For a brief moment, Magna Defender was reminded of his son. He had wanted so much to save his father, simply because it wouldn't be right to let him die. But Magna Defender took that moment to make his escape.

~*~

By this time, the Rangers and the Spices had defeated their opponent (or "opponents", depending on how the reader looks at it). The moment he was destroyed, Ruth recovered. She teleported to them quickly, feeling strong enough to do so.

It was very surprising to see her in such good condition, especially since she was near death just seconds ago. There was no need for an antidote; all she needed was one less monster.

"Where are the girls?" she asked.

Carlos looked around, then turned to Ruth. "I don't know. They were here a few minutes ago."

Ruth closed her eyes and telepathically searched for her daughters. She "looked" through the forest and found them, still tugging at Treacheron. But he was starting to pull Robyn off his shoulders.

Opening her eyes, she said, "They're in trouble!" She ran out to the forest, with the others behind her. They arrived quickly, and Ruth took Robyn off of Treacheron's shoulders for him. "If you think you can yank her off like a pull-string, you have to mess with "'Mommy' first!"

"I would have destroyed Magna Defender if it wasn't for these stupid little children!" Then, he looked down at his legs. Rachel was still tugging at them, trying to pull him to the ground. "Will somebody get this child off of my legs?!"

Everyone laughed when he said that. "Neener, neener, neener!" Robyn shouted.

"Come, Rachel!" Ruth said. Immediately, Rachel stopped tugging and stood next to Ruth. "You two sweet little angels must be tired after such a fight."

"Sweet little angels?" Treacheron screamed. "Are you kidding me?"

But Ruth turned to him sharply. "The only ones around here young enough to kid with you are these two sweet little angels." With that, they all teleported back to the ship. Treacheron shook his head, thinking that Ruth is hopeless.

~*~

"Hanim! Why don't you tell me what this is all about?" Ruth asked in a chuckle. She and Hanim, along with a few others, were walking down the hallways to the SimuDeck.

"You'll see," Hanim said. "It's a Mother's Day surprise!"

When they entered the SimuDeck, there was a piano in the center of the room. There were curtains all around, and there were a few long benches on the side.

"Go ahead and sit down, you guys," Hanim said, indicating to the benches. "I'll do the last minute things." She walked off to some of the curtains behind the piano, and went behind them.

She emerged from the curtains again. "Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, I would like to introduce Miss Rachel Veranda, playing Beethoven's 3rd symphony on the piano."

Everyone applauded as Rachel came from behind the curtains. She was wearing a black and pink dress. The dress it self was pink, and there was added lace to make it look more formal. The lace was located on the shouldetrs, the cuffs, the waist, and at the bottom.

She sat down at the piano and started playing. She was doing a magnificent job. Everyone noticed Robyn coming from behind the curtains, too. She had a violin and its bow in her hand. She was wearing a dress just alike to Rachel's except for one major difference. Rachel's dress was pink, Robyn's dress was a yellowish-gold.

Confused with the music at first, Robyn started to play along with Rachel. Rachel, surprised by Robyn's rude entry, stopped playing, and Robyn did, too. But everyone could tell that whatever they're doing, they're acting.

"Rachel?" Robyn asked. "Would you be so good as to tell me what this noise is all about?"

"Would you kindly get off the stage?" Rachel almost shouted. "I'm in the middle of the concert."

"The concert?! Honey, you're going to put Mommy to sleep with all this jazz! You've just got to get into the strings!" Robyn started playing a fast song on the violin. Rachel was shocked to hear the tune of the song, although it was unfamiliar. She just didn't like the way it sounded.

Noticing this, Robyn stopped. "Come on, Rachel! Let's compromise! Tell you what; you give a little, and I'll give a little. Come on; let's get together!"

Rachel started to play a few upbeat notes repeatedly. "That's it!" Robyn praised. She started to play the violin, then started to sing.

Robyn: "Let's get together,

Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Why don't you and I combine?

Let's get together,

What do you say?

We could have a swinging time!"

Together: "We'd be a crazy team!

Why don't we make the scene

Together?"

Rachel: "Oh, let's get together,

Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Think of all that we could share.

Let's get together

Every day.

Every way and everywhere."

Together: "And though we haven't got a lot,

We could be sharing all we've got,

Together."

Robyn: "Oh! I really think you're swell!"

Rachel: "Uh-huh! We really ring the bell!"

Robyn: "Oo, wee, and if you stick with me,"

Together: "Nothing could be greater,

Say, Hey, Alligator!

Let's get together,

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Two is twice as nice as one!

Let's get together

Right away!

We'll be having twice the fun!

And you can always count on me.

A gruesome twosome we will be!

Let's get together,

Yeah, yeah, yeah!"

The End … for now.
